There are plenty of them, and I'm alone
How to decide and what is best? How not to get confused and make the right purchase? To make it easier to figure out what’s right for you, let’s find out what subcategories and characteristics there are. The table below will help with this:
Child (cm) | 110*140 or 140*140 |
One and a half (cm) | 140*205 or 155*215 |
Double (cm) | 175*205 |
Euro double (cm) | 200*220 |
Let's carefully study the points in the table:
- Children's: 110*140 cm or 140*140 cm. For newborns it is square and differs in length;
- One and a half: 140*205 cm or in the European template 155*215 cm. You can also find other manufacturing variations, 160*205 or 160*220 cm.
The name one and a half does not mean one and a half men, as it seems at first glance, but determines the width of the product. Otherwise, it may be called “family” to simplify the purchase of kits. I bought family bedding for a blanket and am happy. As a rule, the set consists of a sheet, two duvet covers and pillowcases.
- Double: standard 175*205mm. There are also 180*210, 195*215 and 200*200 mm;
- Double euro: 200*220 mm. There is also a royal 220*240 mm. Buy it if your bed is more than 180 cm wide.
Blankets are also classified by weight:
- light - in everyday life it is called “summer”. Excellent air permeability and an ideal option for hot weather and “hot” people;
- semi-light or lightweight, if the apartment or house has heating, then opt for it;
- standard - medium density and average thermal characteristics. Many are accustomed to just this kind of performance;
- warm - ideal for winter and cold autumn;
- super warm - for those who prefer higher temperatures.
The best solution is to purchase two. Thin for the summer and warm or extremely warm for the winter. It all depends on your wishes and financial capabilities. There are also combined ones, more often they are called off-season.
From different manufacturers, the standard may vary up or down, but it would be better to choose the closest option, for example, one and a half sizes. You will save yourself from searching for a suitable bedding set. Of course, the assortment in stores is huge, but you don’t need to limit yourself and try to simplify your task.

Advantages of the size range
Double blankets are universal. Due to their size, they are multifunctional items. Such blankets eliminate unnatural postures of users associated with a lack of covered area.
Such a product may be:
- A cozy and spacious cocoon that envelops the user from all sides while resting or sleeping.
- A comfortable warm blanket-plaid that can be used to cover the surface of the sleeping place (as a bedspread).
- An excellent mattress cover that covers the surface of the mattress, making it smoother and softer.
- The “right” type of blanket, providing not only comfort, but also benefits with medicinal properties (models made from natural wool).
Double blankets have many advantages.
They not only differ in suitable sizes, but also:
- They have a wide range of modern raw materials of natural, synthetic or mixed origin. The raw materials are of high quality.
- They stand out noticeably against the background of more compact analogues, covering the surface of the furniture with a margin, which looks impressive and stylish.
- They are often not only functional bedding, but also bright accents in the bedroom.
- They have a wide range of models, made in open and closed types, with one or two working sides or in the form of double products - according to the “two in one” principle.
- They are distinguished by a variety of colors, which allows the buyer to choose an option based on their own preferences.
- Due to the variability of measurements, you can buy a product in a store with a limited assortment, choosing the most suitable option.
- They help out the owner of the house in the event of guests arriving, sheltering two or even three users (parents with a small child).
- Depending on the raw materials and size used in production, they have different prices, which makes it possible to decide on a purchase based on your budget and taste.
Chinese
China is distinguished by affordable prices and synthetic materials:
- PATERS offers polyester bedspreads from RUB 1,700. ,
- NINELLE – acrylic bedspreads from 1000 rub. ,
- Angelica - microsatin from 1300 rubles,
- jacquard bedspreads from 3500 are offered by Cleo.
High-quality environmentally friendly cotton bedspreads starting at RUB 5,500. offered by PISKATEKSTIL (Portugal).
Interesting
A separate national standard for quilts and pillows was introduced in 2013. What does standard mean? This is a set of rules for companies producing quilts. The presence of a label on a blanket with the GOST symbol means that the product has met the dimensions and the sewing process. Interestingly, the document even indicates the process of correct cutting of the material, the required weight of the product, the parameters of stitches and seams, and the thickness of the threads. Raw materials must be non-hazardous to health and all chemical safety points must be observed.
Standards:
product name | Finished size of the blanket (cm) Length | Finished Size (cm) Width | Permissible deviation in length and width (±), cm |
Double blanket 1 | 220 | 200 | 3,0 |
Double blanket 2 | 205 | 172 | 3,0 |
One-and-a-half blanket | 202 | 140 | 3,0 |
Baby blanket 1 | 118 | 118 | 2,0 |
Baby blanket 2 | 140 | 110 | 2,0 |
When do you need a Euro size blanket?
- You need to make a large double bed . Agree, an unmade bed looks sloppy, so you can’t do without a blanket or bedspread.
- You have been invited to a wedding or housewarming, and you are wondering what to give. A blanket is a great gift . Any housewife will appreciate such a gift and find the right use for it.
- You can cover yourself instead of a blanket. It’s so nice to wrap yourself in a blanket made of natural material and sip some tea while watching your favorite TV series.
But it will be inconvenient to take a euro-sized blanket outdoors, it’s too big.
Choosing clothes
Bed linen is no less important. The fabric will be in constant contact with the body and should be pleasant and hypoallergenic. Be easy to care for and wash. It’s better if it practically doesn’t wrinkle; such a bed looks neater and more well-groomed.
The duvet cover parameter is: blanket plus 5-6 cm on each side. Then you can easily tuck it in and it won’t twist or fold to the side. If minimal doubts creep in, then take a reserve of 7-8 cm. Please note that low-quality underwear will shrink and become a little smaller.
Classification of blankets by size
At the beginning of the 2000s, GOST was established in Russia, which regulated the standardization of sizes. The dimensions of blankets for married couples were taken as a basis.
In accordance with the new rules, according to size, products were divided into several types:
- single or one-and-a-half-bed;
- double;
- double euro;
- family - euro maxi;
- children's
Such a variety of models allows you to purchase a convenient option for sleeping and relaxing.

What it is?
A bedspread is a functional decorative element for a bedroom, living room, nursery or kitchen. This product protects hard-to-clean furniture upholstery, saving it from abrasion and dirt, maintaining an attractive appearance and creating an atmosphere of home comfort.
Eurostandard is a special size, designed specifically for furniture with similar dimensions produced by modern brands.
The “Euro” bedspread is a cover for modern furniture with certain parameters established as world standards for each manufacturer. This is a product that is subject to specific dimensions, due to which the bed or sofa looks neat. Often the dimensions of the cape repeat the parameters of the blankets included in the table of the European standard for pastel linen.
Types
The textile industry offers a wide range of blankets. To distinguish them from each other, you need to know the main categories of products regarding dimensions.
Single or semi-double
A single blanket is often purchased for a single or one-and-a-half bed. It is designed for one adult. The standard size of one-and-a-half blankets is 140x205. There are other models:
- 150x210;
- 155x210;
- 130x220;
- 160x205.
1.5 sleeping blankets fit standard bed linen size 160x220.
They are also called family ones, because... many spouses prefer their own single-double blanket. Therefore, bed linen sets are sold with one large sheet for a double bed and two single duvet covers.
Double blanket
The most popular blankets are 2-bed blankets. They are large in width, so they are designed for two people and a large sleeping area. Since Soviet times, the size of a double blanket with parameters 175x205 has been firmly established. But the size range doesn't end there. There are wider, longer ones; these sizes of 2-bedroom models are called euro and euro maxi.
Euro and Euro maxi
Euro blankets, like one-and-a-half blankets, have several size ranges. The most common size of Euro blankets is 200x220. Companies that produce bedding have recognized this value as universal, so they actively produce according to these standards.
There are also models with parameters 195x215. In Russia they are not so common; they are more in demand in the CIS countries.
The largest blanket that can be found on sale: 220x240. It is also called “royal”. The Euro maxi blanket is suitable for tall people and lovers of huge sleeping places: wide beds, three-seater sofas. However, users have a problem with finding bed linen; it is available in stock, but it is not so easy to find them, so many have to sew to order.
It is necessary to choose the length and width taking into account the size of the mattress. To make a large blanket more comfortable to use, it is recommended to purchase this bedding with dimensions slightly wider than the mattress.
Baby in crib
For children there is also no single value. There is one for small children and one for teenagers. The following measures may be available for sale:
- 110x140cm;
- 125x150cm;
- 105x115cm;
- 80x90cm;
- 95x100cm.
The dimensions of the blanket are selected taking into account the height of the child and the parameters of the child's sleeping place. For teenage children, it is better to buy a single or one-and-a-half-bed.
Maxi
Euromaxi size is also called king size, as it has the largest dimensions and is very comfortable. The width of such a product can be from 220 to 280, and the length - from 220 to 300 cm. It is also often bought by Russians. This royal bedspread beautifully sets off the sleeping bed, making it original and stylish. Most often, such textile products are purchased in maxi sizes - 220x240, 230x250, 240x260 cm.
Color
It is worth paying attention to the shade of the material: the influence of color on a person is a proven fact. The duvet cover can be with or without a pattern, but the main thing is that it should not evoke negative emotions, so it is better to exclude too saturated colors (red, black, dark blue). The bedroom is a special room, so the atmosphere should be inviting. This can be achieved with the help of soft, muted tones of pastel colors (lilac, pink, mint, heavenly, sunny, coral, golden, turquoise shades).
The color is chosen at will: some buyers do not attach any importance to it, because during the day the duvet cover is covered with a beautiful bedspread. Other users prefer that the bed linen completely matches the overall design idea, so they buy not only a duvet cover, but also pillowcases in a single set. Much attention is paid to the drawing.

Common content
Fillers are of natural or synthetic origin, and there are combined models. Each has advantages and disadvantages.
Natural
- Wool. An environmentally friendly product is used as filler: camel, cashmere, sheep wool. It warms perfectly and allows air to pass through. This is due to the curling structure of the fibers, which forms an air cushion that traps heat. The waviness of the wool also ensures that the filler retains its shape. Even with regular use, it will not crumple or mat. Disadvantages include: allergic reactions, delicate care, high price.
- Pooh. For all their volume, such bedding is very light. For example, the Brinkhaus brand offers products weighing only 910 g, despite the fact that the size of the blanket is 200x220. The advantages also include: softness, breathability, excellent warming properties. Disadvantages: fluff absorbs moisture, which is why it needs to be periodically fluffed, dried, and ventilated; high price; with insufficient care - dust mites, which provoke allergies.
- Silk. This material does not cause allergies. Resistant to temperature fluctuations, has a long service life, hygroscopic, antistatic, lightweight, durable. Does not create a greenhouse effect, because has excellent thermoregulatory qualities - maintains optimal body temperature regardless of the time of year. The silk is soft and pleasant to the body. Disadvantages: delicate care, high cost, sometimes manufacturers add impurities, passing off silk textiles as homogeneous.
- Bamboo. Has excellent breathability properties. Bamboo fibers prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi. They do not absorb unpleasant odors, so they delight the owner with cleanliness and freshness for a long time. They weigh little, are strong, durable. Disadvantages: the material wrinkles, so regular beating is required, high price.
Synthetic
- Holofiber is a synthetic filler with a hollow structure. Lightweight, hypoallergenic, warm and reliable. Its properties are similar to swan's down. The degree of heat is determined by the density of the filler. Good air exchange. Disadvantages: after frequent wet treatments, it loses its original elasticity, lightness, and durability.
- Ecofiber - similar in properties to bird down. The filler has the appearance of thin, repeatedly twisted hairs that intersect with each other and retain heat. Only environmentally friendly products are used for production. Does not absorb odors, is moisture resistant, there is no breeding ground for pathogenic microflora. The filler is light, for example, the weight of a one-and-a-half-size standard blanket is 1-1.5 kg. Disadvantages: electrification, loss of elasticity after 2-3 years.
- Comforel - looks like fluffy synthetic balls. It allows air to pass through well and retains heat. Polyester fiber is treated with antibacterial impregnations, which protects against the development of pathogenic microflora. This filler is cheap, light, soft. Disadvantages: shorter service life than holofiber and ecofiber due to the lower elasticity of the fibers.
- Synthetic winterizer - has become widespread because... light, warm, inexpensive. It has the form of non-woven fiber or canvas made of synthetic fibers, which are glued together using high temperatures or adhesives. Disadvantages: almost does not allow air to pass through, deforms after just a few washes; toxicity (if glue was used in production).
How to choose material
It is very important for the buyer what material his bedding will be made of. Fabric also affects sleep quality
Percale
Many people like soft but dense bedding. In this case, you should choose percale. Percale is made from a special type of cotton, so it is suitable for printing the most incredible patterns. The quality of percale is high. Things will remain the same even after a large number of washes.
Satin
For those who like softer bedding, satin is better. The texture of satin is a little like silk, so silky and shiny. A gentle cloud of linen will give you an atmosphere of bliss and unprecedented peace.
Poplin
The manufacturer offers a poplin set made from durable fabrics. Poplin is a fabric that contains both synthetic and natural fibers. It is created by weaving thin and thick threads.
The material has a matte surface. Poplin is considered the most wear-resistant material that can withstand a large number of washes. At the same time, it retains its original appearance.
Silk
This luxurious material gives the wearer a special feeling while sleeping. It is smooth to the touch, delicate, flowing. Such linen will last a long time if you treat it correctly: wash and iron at low temperatures, dry flat. But you may not like the ability of silk to slide.
Chintz
The most inexpensive fabric. This material has a loose texture, so it wears out quickly and does not retain its color for long. But it is made from 100 percent cotton.
Calico
This is a natural material (100% cotton), inexpensive, hygienic, and easy to care for. But calico fades faster than other fabrics and begins to tear.
Linen
This material is good because it keeps you cool in hot weather and retains heat well in cold weather. Linen is one of the most durable materials and can last you for decades. It washes well, but ironing it is difficult. But the more you wash, the softer it becomes.
Bamboo
This fabric is obtained from the fibers of bamboo leaves and stems. Usually cotton, synthetic or silk fibers are added to them. The fabric is valued because it has bactericidal properties, is hypoallergenic, durable, and wrinkle-resistant.
Tencel
May be called lyocell or lyocell. Made from eucalyptus wood, it feels like soft cotton and has a beautiful appearance. Tencel has bactericidal properties, is hygienic, hygroscopic, and wear-resistant. Requires delicate care.
Flannel
Children's underwear is usually made from soft flannel because it retains heat for a long time. The downside may be the ability to become covered in pellets over time.
Terry fabric
It consists of cotton; flax, bamboo, and synthetic fibers can also be included in the composition. If terry fabric consists of 80% natural fibers, then the linen will be hygroscopic, retain heat well and circulate air.
Microfiber
The material is always based on synthetic fibers (polyester, polyamide). The composition may include cotton or cellulose. When purchasing a microfiber set, you should carefully read the composition, and then decide whether to take it or not.
The dependence of the weight of the blanket on the type of filler
Manufacturers offer a wide selection of fillers. They differ in a number of characteristics, for example, weight, warmth, price.
Blankets are:
- With natural filling: Down;
- Wool;
- Bamboo;
- Silk.
- Duvets are quite voluminous, but light. The weight of a blanket measuring 2.0 m by 2.2 m is about 900 grams . Wool blankets are heavy. They retain heat perfectly, so you don’t have to worry about freezing even in the dead of winter. However, they are not suitable for everyone. Some say that they feel discomfort under such a blanket due to the “pressing” effect. The average weight of a double wool blanket is 1800 grams.
How to choose bed linen
Now let's learn more about bed linen fabrics
Pay attention to calico - these are plain weave fabrics; calico is a light and dense fabric, but it is harsh to the touch and wears out quite quickly
When purchasing such bed linen, pay attention to the weave - it should be uniform
calico can be different, but it has a plain weave, there is also poplin and percale
What is the difference between poplin and calico? It is simply softer and, accordingly, more flexible than calico, a little rougher, the structure of the fabric is finely ribbed, pleasant to the touch, but the fabric is subject to rapid wear,
and if you came to the store and saw percale bed linen, then you don’t need to be scared
Percale also has a plain weave. However, the threads from which this fabric is made are thinner than calico or poplin, so the fabric is softer and smoother, very comfortable and very pleasant, and therefore I highly recommend this bed linen
If you are ready to spend a little more money on bedding, then I recommend paying attention to satins
Naturally, this is a different level, very comfortable and pleasant, smooth fabrics and sleeping on them, of course, is a pleasure and bliss
Therefore, if you want to buy bed linen that will last you for many years and will be very pleasant and comfortable for sleeping, then I recommend, of course, satins
The first type of satin that I want to consider is a smooth, very comfortable satin, it is made from long pile cotton, and in fact, can serve you for many, many years
In addition to smooth satins, there are also jacquard statins
What is satin jacquard? This is when a fabric pattern is obtained not by dyeing the fabric, but by interweaving fabric threads
The jacquard pattern can be very different - it is not necessarily a stripe, a checkered pattern - very often two colors of fabric are used and the result is very interesting bed linen with attractive colors
For example, for children, some factories make children's jacquard colors in the form of mushrooms, cars, umbrellas, and children really like such underwear; in addition, it is also very high quality and comfortable
Satins are not always affordable, but you want to sleep on smooth, comfortable and silky linen, and so factories began to produce a fabric called twill satin
it is cheaper than classic satin and also has a plain weave, but it is already twill
This fabric has a lower density than satin and its difference is that not reactive dyes are used here, but pigment dyeing, and the dyes are not as well fixed to the fabric as in satins.
Therefore, here you need to follow the washing regime, set the temperature in the washing machine to no higher than 40 degrees and the spin mode to no more than 600 revolutions, and then the fabric will serve you for a long time and its color will delight you
And I also want to emphasize that this fabric is very worthy and pleasant and cheaper than more expensive fabrics
So, we have sorted out the fabric, how to choose bed linen according to other criteria
First you need to turn, for example, the pillowcase inside out and see what kind of seam is used on the side seams
High-quality linen is processed with a linen seam, otherwise the seams may unravel after several washes. And if the edges are not processed, then such bed linen should be avoided altogether
The next criterion is the smell, just smell the set, if it smells like textiles - this is high-quality linen
And if you smell paint, this means that the laundry will most likely shed heavily and may even cause skin irritation or allergies,
But let’s check the color fastness by simply rubbing the fabric hard, your hands should remain clean, no traces of paint on your palms
In order for the linen to retain its appearance and brightness of colors for a long time, you must follow the operating instructions. Very often, manufacturers recommend washing clothes no higher than 40 degrees
The right bedding will not only add a positive feeling to your day, but can keep you healthy and well for a long time... please remember this...
Care and storage
Caring for double blankets depends on the type of filling. If you have duvets with down or silk, then you will have to pay more attention to caring for them than with options made from padding polyester or Thinsulate.
Duvets require constant fluffing . It's better to do this daily. In sunny weather, they need to be ventilated and dried in the fresh air.
They cannot be stored in vacuum bags , since due to constant compression they will lose their thermal properties.
Can't be washed. For cleaning (at least once every 2 years), such blankets must be dry cleaned.
Wool products also need constant ventilation and drying. They easily absorb moisture, wind and fresh air will help get rid of the unpleasant “aroma”. During storage, it is necessary to ensure air flow and protection from moths. Both hand washing in warm water without the use of bleaching and dyeing agents , and dry cleaning are allowed.
Bamboo does not require maintenance. However, there are rules that should be followed to extend the service life:
- Dry cleaning is better than wet cleaning;
- If wet cleaning is used, dry on a horizontal surface;
- Do not store in vacuum bags, as the material will deform;
- When washing, do not twist or use bleaching agents.
A silk blanket is the most demanding to care for. It cannot be cleaned frequently. When using it, it needs a duvet cover (preferably made of silk) so that sweat and sebum do not fall on the surface. It must be periodically whipped and ventilated.
In order for excess moisture to evaporate from it, it is better to take it out into the sun in a duvet cover , since it does not tolerate direct sunlight. It also cannot be ironed, it only recognizes steam exposure.
Blankets with artificial fillings are the easiest to care for. To give them freshness, they can be washed either in the machine at 30 degrees or by hand. Such products do not need to be ironed; they can be dried simply by hanging them on a clothesline. To prevent them from accumulating dirt, they need to be washed 3-4 times a year.
Thus, the choice of blanket size is entirely up to you. Manufacturers offer a wide range of options, based on your inner feelings, but do not forget about the size of the bed!
Do you want to buy a practical and warm product for sleeping? We invite you to pay attention to a holofiber blanket, the characteristics of which are given in our article.
Do you prefer natural? Then a bamboo or camel blanket is for you. We will help you make your choice in this article.
How to use and store
Having purchased a Euro class product that meets all the requirements, you must use and store it correctly.
Caring for a wool blanket is not easy. Such a thing needs to be shaken out and aired often, but cannot be washed, especially in warm water. Also, do not use bleach or rub it to clean it, as it may ruin it. If you still decide to wash such a thing, then there is a little trick. To make your wool product look better, you can add 2 tablespoons of vinegar to 30 liters of water or replace the vinegar with a few tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Taking into account all of the above, you can easily choose from a huge number of European standard blankets the one that is right for you. Before purchasing euro products, read the label, which indicates the operating instructions, information about the material, filler and size. With the right blanket, your sleep will be sweet and sound.
Types and standards
Single and one-and-a-half beds
The kit includes:
- 1 duvet cover,
- 1 sheet,
- 1 or 2 pillowcases depending on the model.
As the name suggests, the set is designed for one, but today traditional single sets are becoming increasingly rare.
1 to 5 bedroom sets are very popular, which are suitable not only for one person, but also for a married couple who sleeps in the same bed.
Double and Euro
A double set features larger duvet covers and sheets, and can include two or four pillowcases and one duvet cover.
The set is suitable for both singles and married couples.
The Euro size differs from the double size only in larger sizes, the equipment remains exactly the same.
Family
Family models are equipped with 2 one-and-a-half duvet covers.
Designed for married couples who prefer to cover themselves with different blankets.
Euro Maxi
The size of the duvet cover in this set is 220x240 cm, and the size of the sheet can reach 260x260 cm.
Pillowcases in Euro maxi sets come in two standards: 70x70 and 50x70 and are usually supplied in the amount of 4 pieces.
Classification
The classification of bed linen by size in Russia and in Europe differs not only in numbers: European linen is marked with symbols in English.
- Single bed linen can be designated as “1-bed” or “single”.
- Double – “2-bed”, “full” or “double”.
- "Queen" is the equivalent of the Russian "Euro".
- One-and-a-half sets are designated as “1.5-bed” and “extra-long single”.
- You can also sometimes find “king-size” sets, which are essentially “three-bedroom”.
- The designation “baby bed” is typical for linen for the cribs of small children and newborns.
Standard Size Chart
Since 2007, standard sizes of duvet covers and other bedding have been introduced in Russia and the former CIS countries. Now you no longer need to suffer, remembering all the sizes in numbers, you just need to know the type of your own bed and feel free to select a duvet cover according to the specified table. Take into account and check - the bed linen set may include 2 or 4 pillowcases and a sheet.
State standards provide for various bedding options. The table describes all sizes of duvet covers with an accuracy of one centimeter.
Duvet cover sizes: table
Single 135*200 Single 150*210; 150*220; 150*230 Double 180*210; 180*215; 200*220 Eurostandard 205*225; 200*220; 225*240 Family 150*210; 215*230
Tips for choosing
When choosing bed linen from both Russian and foreign manufacturers, it is necessary not only to take into account the difference in the sizes of each type, but also the configuration.
Pillowcases
For example, one-and-a-half sets are designed for one person, but they can be used by two people, so in such a set there are often two pillowcases.
size table
Pillowcase size | Pillow size |
Standard square 70×70 cm | from 68x68 cm to 70x70 cm |
Standard rectangular 50×70 cm | from 48x68 cm to 50x70 cm |
There are sets with one pillowcase, so when choosing, you need to read all the information on the package.
Duvet cover
As for the duvet cover, it is usually selected to match the size of the existing blanket.
- The duvet cover should be 2-3 centimeters larger than the blanket.
size table
Duvet cover | Blanket | Bed | Set |
from 143x210 cm to 160x230 cm | from 140x200 cm to 160x220 cm | up to 140 cm | One-and-a-half (one-and-a-half-bed) |

from 143x210 cm to 160x230 cm | from 140x210 cm to 160x220 cm | from 180 cm | Family (two duvet covers) |
Sheet
There are two types of sheets:
- regular classic,
- tension (with an elastic band).
The disadvantages and advantages of a regular sheet are obvious:
- suitable for all beds and mattresses,
- is inexpensive,
but at the same time she can:
- get lost,
- crumple,
- slide off the mattress.
Stretch sheets do not slide off the mattress , as they are fixed with an elastic band running along its contour.
size table
Classic bed sheet | Bed sheet with elastic band | Mattress size | Set size |
from 145x200 cm | 90x200 cm 140x200 cm | 90x200 cm 140x200 cm | One-and-a-half (one-and-a-half-bed) |

- Fitted sheets can only be used with mattresses, so it is very important to choose the right size, and for this you need to know the dimensions of the mattress.
How to determine the appropriate size
To determine the appropriate size, you can use a simple formula:
- The width of the bedspread is determined by adding the width and twice the height of the mattress. If the width of the mattress is 160 cm and its height is 20 cm, then the width of the bedspread should be 200 cm.
- The length of the bedspread is determined by adding the height and length of the mattress. In this example, it is 220 cm (20+200). If a bedspread is needed for a bed with a footrest, then the length will be 200 cm (that is, only the length of the mattress).
In this example, the best option would be a bedspread measuring 200x220 cm.
When choosing a bedspread for cribs, it is worth considering the size of the upper plane of the mattress. This nuance is due to the fact that it is surrounded by sides on all sides. Therefore, the cover for cribs should not be much wider than the mattress.
One and a half blanket size
A one-and-a-half blanket is a single product that is designed for comfortable sleep for one person; the name comes from the fact that it is usually approximately 1.5 meters wide
There are several dimensions of this product. The size of a one-and-a-half blanket comes in the following sizes.
- 155x215. The model is popular and practical. There are no problems when selecting linen sets.
- 140x205. Refers to the Russian standard, which has existed since Soviet times. Often such models are purchased for children.
When choosing a suitable option, remember the dimensions of the bed. Its size cannot exceed 50 cm compared to the model.
Single plan adult models are designed for one user with an average weight of up to 90 kg
Classification of blankets by degree of warmth
The degree of warmth is the warming quality of the product. On product packaging this indicator is displayed in numbers or dots, the number of which varies from 1 to 5. Not every manufacturer follows this rule. However, knowing the classification of products, you can easily choose the right option.
Types of degrees of heat:
- Five points. Very warm models - made of wool and down, capable of keeping you warm at low temperatures. Especially suitable for those people who like to sleep with an open window.
- Four. Warm - designed for European winters with temperatures up to -10 degrees and colder climates.
- Three. Normal or all-season is a common middle type between summer and winter options. Suitable for moderate temperatures in the off-season.
- Two. Lightweight - suitable for cool periods when heating is turned on or for warm spring.
- One. Light - for hot weather. The main function is to retain body heat while sleeping on a cool summer night. The item must “breathe”, that is, ensure good air circulation.
When choosing a product based on the degree of warmth, you need to compare products based on the amount of filler. For those who prefer insulated items, a blanket with a lot of wool or down is suitable. Allergy sufferers should opt for synthetic products.
