IKEA folding chairs: kitchen plastic and wooden chairs with backrest

“Here I am writing this ode,

Not someone - a stool.

I suggest you hurry -

To build a monument..."

This simple piece of furniture is one of mankind's first inventions, invented 5,000 years ago. Did you know that in ancient times a stool was used as a throne? And at the French court, special guests were given “stool rights,” that is, they had the opportunity to sit down when all the other subjects of the king stood.

Evolution affected the stool in a unique way: first a block of wood, then wooden structures with legs-hooves made of elephant tusks, camp “chairs” and, finally, a “miracle” of designer imagination - a round seat on plywood legs. You will almost never see such models at IKEA - its assortment is more refined and rich, and is definitely useful in the household.

What is the multifunctionality of an IKEA stool?

MARIUS

The IKEA MARIUS stool is a clear confirmation of this. It seems to have the simplest shape - round, but its shiny steel legs and rich-colored propylene seat will decorate any kitchen. The “airiness” of the structure is added by holes drilled around the circumference of the seat.

The good news is that even a person who is economical in all respects can afford the MARIUS model.

The stools are designed in such a way that they are easily stacked and stored in a corner or closet.

ROSKOG

Its “relative” ROSKOG has shaped curved legs and a footrest, which makes the sitting process comfortable. The designers rightly assumed that ROSKOG for a creative kitchen has no right to be faded and nondescript, which is why its colors are white, denim, and azure gray.

FROSTA

But the elegant FROSTA from IKEA is just the thing for creative people. It is made of birch veneer and coated with transparent varnish, that is, it looks like an ordinary wooden stool. But craftsmen “transform” its seat into a cute face of an animal, or a girl/boy, or paint it in different shades with intricate patterns.

A colorful round pillow or a hand-knitted stool will turn a banal object into a handmade stool.

IKEA fireplace woodpile made from a stool? Yes, this is possible if you stack several pieces on top of each other with their legs up. And by fastening them together and placing them with their legs down, you get decorative shelves: on one there is a lamp, on the other there is a Yellow Pages catalog and a telephone.

BEKVEM

So, make way for the Stool! Let this work of carpentry surprise you with its versatility and serve as... a staircase. Don't believe that a stepladder and an IKEA stool are the same thing? Then take a look at the company catalog on the page where BEKVEM is listed. This design has been popular among business people for several years, who pay great attention to details.

BEKVEM is 3 in 1: a chair, a table, and a stepladder.

Of course, it is far from a full-fledged folding ladder, but how convenient it is: it has a step, and a recess for easy carrying, and it can fit at a table to put a cup.

However, why talk so much about the advantages of IKEA products when it is better to see everything with your own eyes. We guarantee that you will choose something for your home or garden - good luck!

Several recommendations for choosing

Dimensions. If the whole family of more than four people gathers around the table every day, then it is best to purchase a large table. Accordingly, there should be enough stools for everyone, which is very problematic for kitchens that do not have a very large dining area. In this case, the best option would be folding stools (or stacking chairs) from Ikea. They will save useful kitchen space with the same number of seats.

Form. As a rule, chairs should come with a table - however, if you select items yourself, it may turn out that the shape of the chairs will not match the shape of the table. Therefore, it is advisable to take into account the design of the table and the overall interior of the kitchen.

Quantity. Since the seats at the table are distributed in increments of 0.5 m, it is advisable to select chairs in such a way that there are enough seats for all family members in a free seating position.

Ikea kitchen chairs

There are chairs in every kitchen

Convenience, functionality and practicality are the three pillars of the concept of a good chair for the kitchen. Equally important are ergonomics, the presence of a reliable frame, and compliance with the overall style of the interior. The size of the kitchen also matters. If a large one can accommodate a spacious sofa and impressively sized chairs, then a small one requires completely different furniture. Compact, folding and stackable options are a real godsend for such a room.

Ikea products fully meet all of the above requirements. In addition, furniture of this brand is affordable, and therefore updating the interior will not cost a pretty penny.

Having clear instructions allows you to install any item yourself and avoid the additional costs of hiring a professional assembler.

Ikea stool decor

Selecting and purchasing chairs and stools in a store is not always a quick and successful task, but sometimes you can purchase a classic model of the most ordinary design and decorate it to your own taste or restore old home furniture! How to do it?

You can use a regular stool with a hard seat, varnish it or cover it with fabric. The simplest option is to change the cover or sew a new one, soft bedding to match the overall decor of the kitchen and even upholstering the seat with fabric.

And the most interesting and inexpensive way to “change the scenery” by updating the decor of a stool is decoupage.

Decoupage stools

Method 1. Applying a stencil to the seat and then fixing the pattern with varnish. The cheapest method is in which the stool is disassembled, the surface of the seat is sanded, wiped with a soft dry cloth, then a design is applied using a stencil template (today such templates can be purchased in hand-made departments). The image is fixed with furniture varnish - in two layers.

Important! This method is good for wooden stools.

What to do:

Sand the surface of the seat, then prime the surface (in 2-3 layers), then paint it either with acrylic paint, or apply a drawing, cut out flowers or a picture (pictures can be glued with ordinary PVA glue).

Before each subsequent application of a layer of paint and varnish, after gluing the material, it is advisable to allow the composition to dry thoroughly.

The legs of the stool can also be painted in the same color as the surface of the seat. A similar procedure - decoupling one stool - can take 2-3 hours.

Method 2 . Instead of a pattern, you can use full decoupling with fabric. The fabric is convenient because you can choose almost any pattern - for example, one that matches the curtains in the kitchen or wall decoration. Paste the material onto the sanded surface of the seat, securing it from the wrong side.
