Beige color is so versatile that it is ideal for decorating any room in the house. To create a beautiful apartment design, the combination of shades must be harmonious. Usually beige is chosen as the base, and another color complements it. It is permissible to use several shades to decorate the interior, but so that they all combine well with each other.

Recommendations for use in design
The beige color creates a strong association with comfort, relaxation, and stability. Therefore, it is often used in interior design, because even small details will make the house more comfortable. At the same time, do not consider the beige color scheme boring - there are about 1000 tones, including light shades, neutrals, dark, simple and complex.
- Beige color in the interior is also acceptable on the largest surfaces, for example, in wall decoration. Like white, beige is a universal color: it does not attract unnecessary attention and creates the ideal tone for decorative elements and bright accents. It will be “on topic” both in the hall and in the office or hallway. Great for northern rooms, making them warmer. In rooms with windows facing south, beige walls can neutralize the heat. Select wallpaper or paint according to the size and location of the room: for small and sunny ones, a cool, light shade (a mixture of beige and gray, for example, can expand the space), for spacious and cold ones - a warm, medium-saturated one.
- The second largest detail of any room is curtains. Beige curtains warm even on cold winter evenings, set the mood, and suit any style and design. But keep in mind that they practically do not absorb light, so in the bedroom interior it is permissible to use only blackouts (when there is a black thread in the weave of the fabric).
- A living room in beige tones cannot do without its main attribute - a sofa. The versatility of the colors allows it to be used in any room - small, large, in a classic or modern style, with rich decor or in a minimalist design. At the same time, the upholstery is not too easily soiled - on white, for example, all possible stains are visible, on dark - dust and animal hair. Beige successfully eliminates any specks and the sofa always looks great, which is why it has gained its popularity.
- In the kitchen, a beige kitchen set will become a bright accent. Typically, cabinet furniture in this color is used in a classic style - a shade of natural wood, facades with glass, milling. But even in a modern kitchen in modern or high-tech style with smooth glossy doors, it remains appropriate. You can often find a combination of beige and brown, when the top tier of cabinets is light and the bottom is dark.
Using color and its shades alone, you can create a complete design for any room: light colors are used for the base, dark colors are used to highlight and give the effect of depth.
Apartment layout
The area of the kitchen-living room is only 15 m², plus a part of the corridor measuring almost 2.5 m² is attached to it (in the area of the interior doors to the bedroom, wardrobe and bathroom). The apartment also has a loggia of 2 m², which is located next to the kitchen, and an entrance hall of 6.5 m² with a large built-in storage system. Please note that there is no closet in the bedroom itself - the 13 m² room was left free, with a feeling of spaciousness. The 5 m² bathroom has a bowl, a large cabinet and a washing machine.

In what colors is it better to decorate the interior?
Shades of beige depend on what color the base is mixed with (white + brown):
- Grey. Neutral color between warm and cool.
- Green. Two colors that fade into olive create a feeling of peace.
- Yellow. This combination of beige is closer to gold - warm and sunny.
- Pink. The tone becomes brighter and turns red or peach.

They may all seem the same, but when you look closely and apply the undertones to each other, you will see the difference: warmer, cooler, lighter, darker, richer. The rich range of colors allows you to use beige as a primary, secondary and even accent color.

When creating an interior in beige tones, pay attention to their temperature: the design will look more harmonious if you use cold with cold, warm with warm. In order not to make a mistake with the combination of beige, take the tones of one color: lilac, peach, gray, orange.
Bathroom
Decorated in white marble porcelain stoneware, this Scandinavian bathroom is a combination of simple solutions: a bowl with a glass screen, a large cabinet with a custom-made countertop, under which there is a washing machine. Please also note that the washing machine does not reach the countertop by 5–6 cm, which is the right decision from the point of view of the operating rules of household appliances due to its possible mobility during operation.

The most popular combinations
In combination with other colors, even the usual sand color will sparkle with new colors.
Combination of beige and gray in the interior
This tandem has its own name: greige - from the English “grey” and “beige”. This combination of beige color is used extremely rarely, and in vain! Two neutral, calm shades together form a rather interesting combination: gray cools the environment, beige warms it with warmth.
No single shade should prevail—companions should be used in equal proportions. Gray walls, sand sofa and curtains, gray armchair, pillows and blankets, other interior details in beige.
To prevent the overall look from seeming boring, add color accents: emerald, indigo, burgundy.

Examples of beige and blue in the interior
Like fire and ice, sun and water, these colors are two parts of one whole, and when they meet, beige and blue neutralize and balance each other.
In all rooms of the apartment, when renovating, it is logical to use beige as a background, and accentuate the details with blue: pillows, paintings, curtains, a small chair or pouf will decorate the room.
Blue is dark, so it goes well with both muted and rich tones - Irish cream, coffee, cinnamon, coriander, suede.

Design in beige and green tones
As in the case of brown, this palette was created by nature itself. Using unsaturated teas (light green, mint, green tea) you can add freshness to the room. Dark ones (emerald, malachite), on the contrary, add weight and make the interior in beige tones elegant and expensive.
Use bright turquoise very carefully and in doses: the combination will look advantageous if you use the 80/20 rule. Small pillows, blankets, paintings, individual chairs, and a coffee table can be turquoise.

Combination of beige and brown
This combination is dictated by nature itself: it is calm, simple and understandable. Brown here acts as a darker, highlighting color - with it you can achieve a feeling of depth, move the walls apart, raise the ceiling.
To make the design more interesting, play with textures: brick walls, leather chair, wooden furniture, velvet or matting sofa.
In small rooms, the main color should be a light palette, and dark coffee or chocolate should be used only to highlight individual details. In a spacious room, on the contrary, the walls can be dark, and the furniture and decor can be sandy.

Beige-blue tones
A less contrasting combination than with blue, so take a light color scheme:
- almond, vanilla, sponge cake, ivory beige;
- celestial, polar, gray-blue, pale blue of blue.
A wonderful tandem for a boy’s nursery - the interior in a beige palette will not be too soft, but not icy either. Often used in living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens - the combination is refreshing, calm, and peaceful.
Beige color with pink tones
This duet will look great not only in a girl’s children’s room, but also in the living room, bathroom and even in the kitchen. The composition of pink and beige is often used in modern styles; it does not look boring, refreshes, and energizes.
As a main color, light pink is relaxing; if you want to achieve a romantic design, use it as an additional color.
Interior in beige tones with bright shades
Beige walls in the interior will be an excellent canvas for bright colors:
- Yellow. Both colors resemble gold, so the finished design looks not only bright, but also expensive. For a duet, choose warm yellow colors: pear, saffron. From beige it is also better to choose shades with a hint of yellow.

- Red. Energetic, even aggressive shade. Don’t overdo it with its use: scarlet curtains or an accent wall are too much. But small accessories will make the room more dynamic.
- Violet. Dark on light looks harmonious, but it is best if the beige itself is mixed with a purple color. Feel free to use purple in large details - headboard, curtains, bench.
Customers and tasks
The owners of the apartment in the Moscow Zilart residential complex are a married couple. They work a lot and wanted to create an interior for rest and relaxation after working days, for which they turned to designer Anna Dobrokovskaya. “It was necessary to delimit the space into common (hallway, kitchen, dining and living room) and private areas. At the same time, provide a workplace in the personal area. The main goal was to leave more open space and create functional storage,” this is how the designer describes the wishes of his customers.
A sitting area with a TV in the living room is complemented by a fireplace. It is not accentuated in the interior, but adds even more comfort to this space.
Design options in various styles
The use of beige color in the interior primarily depends on the style. For example, in Scandinavian it is used extremely limitedly or is avoided altogether, replacing it with gray and white colors. But in other interior styles, beige plays the main roles:
Classic. Thanks to its distant golden tint, soft beige is considered one of the best colors when creating a sophisticated, classic design. It looks great on rich furniture, surrounded by exquisite decorative elements and luxury.
Eco style. Natural textures like wood and natural stone are important elements of style and go well with both light concrete and dark leather.

Country. A rustic design based on rough shapes allows you to look at beige from a different angle. It's still basic, but looks very different as raw wood or plaster.
Minimalism. Due to the almost complete absence of decor, the style cannot be called cozy, but the warm colors make it more homely. A combination of white and beige is often used - clean, calm, without unnecessary details.
Provence. French country comes to mind with pastel blue and lilac shades - wheat will be an excellent base for them! Gray and white lose here, they are not so cozy.
Benefits of beige color
When faced with choosing a color scheme for the living room, you first need to answer the following question: “What should the room be like: a place for meetings and communication, for intimate and business conversations?”
Let's try to figure it out.
- Firstly. The living room should be filled with an atmosphere of comfort.
- Secondly. Communication requires a peaceful environment.
- Third. The hall should be characterized by elegance.
A beige, “natural” color can bring all this into the room.
Plus a couple more compelling arguments:
- The beige palette is suitable for both a small room in an apartment and a spacious one, for example, in a hotel.
- Beige decor goes well with any style, it is universal.
In general, these advantages make “beige living rooms” quite trendy in today’s design, and when arranging a room, many people prefer the beige color. So, this is “the one”, the right color for the living room. Forward!
