More recently, an office for an ordinary apartment was quite a rare occurrence. Today, having your own premises, combining the functions of a workplace, a reception area for visitors on a business visit, and a library, is an indispensable condition for many businessmen.
The ease of use of the office largely depends on the correct design of the windows. They are designed to carry the main semantic load when developing the style of a room, and are also an important element of the design of any interior.
We offer you a collection of photos with ideas for curtains for the office in different styles.
Why are they needed?
In many companies, office curtains are not a design element, but a necessity. Even if the window does not face the sun, the room may be too bright, which can interfere with work. If direct sunlight enters the window opening, it can heat up the office, especially in summer. In addition, documents lying on the desktop can fade due to the sun.
For an office in an apartment, the design of the curtains is also important. After all, this room is usually decorated in accordance with personal tastes.
Don't forget about the company's style
Respectability, elegance, functionality, practicality – these are the absolute requirements for office blinds, aimed at creating a comfortable workplace. In addition to the above, they should also work on the company’s image, and advertising is never superfluous.
Marketing research clearly shows the undeniable benefits of visual, unobtrusive display of brand names. Therefore, recently, blinds with the company logo printed on them .
Usually these are vertical curtains made of fabric material. However, a photograph, silk-screen printing, or a graphic print with an emblem can be applied to horizontal blinds made of any materials; it is important that the color of the canvas contrasts with the image. It is very important to secure premises from break-ins. In this case, it is recommended to install rain blinds on the windows and doorways on the outside of the building.

There are vivid examples of how vertical office blinds or other curtain options can look in a classic office, as well as in home interiors. We offer you to look at popular and widespread design photos.
Color and texture
Psychologists have found that the color of curtains affects performance: light, neutral tones increase it, while dark ones, on the contrary, depress it. Too bright, red shades can cause aggression. Drawings are used only where they do not distract, but serve as an additional element to create coziness, for example in the reception area.
Light curtains increase productivity.
The shade of the curtains should fit into the interior.
Application area
Curtains for the office are selected based not only on the design of the room. When choosing, you need to consider where exactly they will hang.
In government institutions
Office design in government agencies usually involves modest costs. Therefore, when choosing curtains, they are often guided by their cost. For example, curtains for a school office (photo below) can be in the form of paper blinds - vertical or horizontal. Their main function is sun protection, so short options are often chosen.
If we are talking about the office of the head of a government agency, then inexpensive curtains in discreet colors will do.
Medical office
If the main function of interior items in a school is sun protection, then in medical offices it is important to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Curtains for physiotherapy rooms should be pastel shades.
Translucent fabrics are best for a medical office. However, you need to choose materials that will not allow you to see from the street what is happening inside. This is especially important if the room is on the ground floor.
For home
Home style suggests some relaxation. When designing an office for a man or woman, you can take into account the personal tastes of the owner. However, it is important to understand that the home office environment should still create a work environment.
Therefore, the design of the curtains must correspond to the basic style. In the photo you can see basic examples of what a home office can look like. You can use brighter colors here if they are in harmony with the rest of the design.
Choosing furniture
Its quantity and configuration completely depend on your desires, needs, and capabilities. When it is not possible to allocate a separate room for a study, the solution will be a niche, a converted pantry, a loggia, or part of the room. In this case, simple and comfortable office furniture is chosen for home offices. It is compact, mobile, and has a modern design. The desktop will fit harmoniously into any space and will be successfully combined with various styles.
If a room is allocated for a work office, then it’s worth thinking through its interior down to the smallest detail. Professional designers who can offer many interesting ideas will help you cope with this task perfectly. But if you are confident in your abilities and have a clear idea of your future office, then feel free to start implementing the project.
When choosing an interior style, choosing furniture and decorative elements, you should be guided not only by your own taste, but also by the characteristics of your activity.
The traditional style is classic. Other styles also have the right to live in a home office. Young and modern people prefer interiors with high-quality plastic, glass, and metal.
But whatever style you choose, the main task is to create a comfortable space, a favorable working atmosphere that is as comfortable as possible for you.
Kinds
Let's look at the main types of curtains that are used for office design using an example and a photo.
Roman
Roman blinds are one of the latest models. It is clear from the photo that they are a drapery option in which the height of the curtains is adjusted. When lowered, they can reach the window sill, and when raised, they can reach the top of the window.
This is a practical model for offices, most often made of fabric that does not wrinkle. In most cases, a plain material with a calm color scheme is used.
Rolled
This variety partially resembles the Roman version. The fabric in this model also rises to the top. However, roller blinds in an upstairs office have a closed box where the fabric is collected. The material itself is most often treated with an antistatic solution, as well as dust protection agents.
The rolled version looks good in different designs. Regardless of the style, you can choose practical products that will reliably protect from the sun and give a complete look to the room.
Blinds
The photo shows another classic look - blinds. They can be made of metal or fabric. There is a vertical type and a horizontal one. The advantages of blinds include:
- convenient functionality (easy to open and close);
- practicality (easy to care for, just wipe off the dust);
- variety (you can choose a design for any office).
For the office, vertical blinds made of thin fabric strips are most often used.
Pleated
The model resembles blinds, but these options have some differences. Pleats are often attached to a window opening or to a wall. The textiles used for this are high quality and dense. Therefore, the curtains will maintain their appearance even if a lot of sunlight penetrates into the office. They are protected from burnout.
The pleated design is universal, which distinguishes their blinds. They can be mounted on windows of any shape - both standard rectangular and trapezoidal.
Price issue
So, we can say that before opening a curtain sewing studio, you need to decide how much all the necessary equipment will cost. A sewing machine can cost from $300, an overlocker will cost $1,800-$2,000, and a blind hem machine will cost about $1,000. Of course, this is quite a lot. However, it is worth considering how much it costs to sew curtains. Each client will leave at least $500 in your salon. Thanks to this, we can say that after 6-7 months all the money spent on equipment may well come back, and even in excess.
Principles of fabric selection
Some models may look good in photos, but quickly lose their appeal. Therefore, you need to pay attention to the material from which they are made. The fabric must meet several criteria:
- let light through, but at the same time protect from the sun (so that the eyes are not overstrained either from excess lighting or from lack of light);
- convenient adjustment of the lighting level (to protect the computer screen from glare);
- antistatic properties (so that dust, which can be a lot in the office, does not settle on the surface, and the surface is easy to clean).
Virtual salon - an alternative to the real one if you lack funds
If you have drawn up a business plan for a curtain salon, and at the same time you understand that your initial financial capabilities do not allow you to organize a showroom, then you can make it virtual. To do this, you will need to create your own website, on which you will place a colorful catalog of the materials used and design options. For the first time this will be enough. And when sewing curtains begins to bring you tangible profits, you will organize a salon where potential customers can see everything in person.
Choosing curtains for the manager's office
Curtains for an executive's office have several main functions. They should not only protect from sunlight, but also create a complete design of the room. The director's office is a place that speaks of the prestige of the company.
The photo shows several design options. Any of the models must correspond to the general style of the room.
Relevance of use and conciseness are important. Pretentiousness should be avoided as it does not make the best impression.
The choice of classic heavy curtains for the boss is appropriate if the other furnishings correspond to this.
Curtains for the reception area
The reception area of any company is the most visited place in the office. Therefore, interior items should hint at what exactly the company does. For example, for a creative company (engaged in the development and production of advertising), asymmetrical models are suitable. But for a serious company, expensive classic options are suitable, emphasizing its respectability. Examples are in the photo.
Curtains for the office
A classic office is a place where almost all employees gather. Therefore, for the design of the room, you should choose curtains in a neutral style that will not distract from the work process. When choosing, you need to focus on how they match the furniture and walls in color.
Functionality also plays an important role - whether interior items protect from sunlight. Heavy natural fabrics are not suitable because they accumulate too much dust. The main options are blinds or roller models (pictured).
Why is it recommended to give preference to plastic windows?
Windows made of plastic profiles are chosen to equip offices more often than other structures. The main reason is the optimal price-quality ratio. However, there are other equally important factors that encourage you to make such a choice:
ease of maintenance - windows do not require complex maintenance, since for normal operation it is enough to clean and lubricate the fittings with sealing contours;
maintainability - virtually all elements in the window structure are interchangeable, thanks to which any malfunction can be repaired relatively quickly and inexpensively;
functionality - several ways of opening, the presence of additional options and ease of system management make plastic windows very convenient to use;
a wide selection of decors - lamination of white and brown profiles with wood-like and colored films allows you to produce structures for offices with any interior style;
high energy efficiency – thanks to the use of multi-chamber profiles and selective double-glazed windows, it is possible to produce windows with a heat saving resistance coefficient of more than 1 W/m²×°C, which is 2 times higher than the minimum permissible value;
good noise absorption - absolute tightness and the possibility of installing two- or three-chamber double-glazed windows allows you to assemble truly quiet models that help create a working atmosphere.
Keeping such structures clean is also very easy. After the advent of self-cleaning double-glazed windows, cleaning office windows has become much easier - just wipe the inside of them. And from the street side, everything will be done by sunlight and rainwater, which, together with a special metallized layer on the glass, will remove all the dirt from the surface of the windows.
Which ones are suitable for an apartment or private house?
Workspaces in houses or apartments allow a little more freedom in design. The design can be either strict (if the owner constantly works at home) or relaxed (for example, if the room is used for reading).
Classic style
Classic curtains suggest an appropriate setting. The furniture is often massive, made of natural wood and leather. If we are talking about a private house, there is often a fireplace.
For classic options in the office, curtains in brown shades are suitable. To relax your eyes, you can use a noble green color. In home offices, eyelet curtains are often used.
In the style of minimalism
Minimalism involves laconic forms and discreet colors. A striking example of design is Japanese style. The photo shows examples of what curtains can be used. More often we are talking about roll models.
For the office of a girl, woman
Recommendations for women's offices will be the same as for other cases. The design will depend on the room itself, as well as the wishes of the owner. Sometimes girls strive to fill their personal account with their favorite things or souvenirs.
However, you should not overdo it, otherwise the business space will turn into a warehouse of unnecessary items. And such an environment will not be conducive to the work process.
Recommendations for selection
Short curtains (for example, blinds or roller ones) will be universal for the office. Neutral light shades (beige, gray, pastel green) are most often used. Examples are in the photo below.
If the room has massive expensive furniture, then you can choose appropriate curtains for the office and study, including elongated ones.
Style
The design of window decorations should match the style of the room. Modern furniture involves universal interior items (roller blinds, Roman blinds, blinds). They can soften the strict design of a room. And classic textile options will increase respectability.
View
Blinds, for example, metal ones, may be suitable for an office. But this option should not be used in a home office. It is better to prefer structures made of bamboo or fabric.
Material
The choice of material depends on whether functionality is important. Please note that heavy natural fabrics collect a lot of dust. And universal structures (as in the photo) are treated with products that protect against contamination. Therefore, they do not have to be constantly removed for washing. The surface is easily cleaned of dust.
Color and texture
First of all, the color of the curtains should be in harmony with the office furniture, as well as with the shade of the walls and floor. But there are a few more nuances of choice:
- in rooms facing north, it is better to use light and lightweight materials;
- bright or catchy prints will distract attention when working;
- When combining two colors, you need to use contrasting shades.
Textured curtains may be appropriate in a classic setting. In a modern office, it is better to use minimalist weaving.
How to install a “smart” cornice correctly?
When ordering, you must immediately indicate where the system will be mounted - to the ceiling or to the wall above the window. An important point: the ceiling mount will definitely be included in the kit, the wall mount will only be provided if the appropriate choice is made.
It's all about the fastening system. It consists of 2 elements: a cunning bracket that needs to be inserted into the cornice and turned at a right angle; and a massive wall corner, to which the first one can be attached with screws.
It is on the screws, and they need to be screwed in from below, preferably placing a washer. You don't need a nut - the holes in the corners are threaded.
On the ceiling, the corresponding brackets are fastened with self-tapping screws, a pair for each.
The system is impressive - I have never seen such strong fastening systems before. The elephant can be hanged.
The installation rules were well defined by Aqara’s own specialists:
1. The minimum width of a niche for installing one profile is 10 cm. 2. The length of the cornice should be 2 cm less than the length of the niche for installation. 3. The distance between the brackets during installation is 50 cm. 4. The first and last brackets are installed at a distance of 10-11 cm from the edge. 5. For a two-row cornice, the minimum distance between them is 5 cm.
Important: for wall mounting, only original curtain rods from the Aqara.ru online store are recommended.
