If we talk about its purpose, the main thing is to increase the burglary resistance of the product and increase its thermal insulation characteristics. When the door is closed, it is impossible to get to the lock bolt. Moreover, this happens largely thanks to the vestibule. It does not allow the door to be pressed out and removed from its hinges. When the door is closed, the seal fits tightly to the door frame. This ensures that the apartment is protected from such phenomena as:
- unpleasant odors;
- drafts;
- cold air.

Advantages and disadvantages
For entrance panels, the presence of a vestibule is a significant advantage. The plank reliably covers the installation sites of awnings, crossbars and locks, so it is more difficult to open such models.
Advantages of installing planks in interior structures:
- Thanks to good sealing, an additional strip on the door will provide sound insulation. A seal fixed along the entire outer perimeter will provide additional noise absorption due to the absence of gaps. This is true for children's rooms, offices, bedrooms.
- Sealing in the vestibules allows you to retain heat and protects against drafts in cold, drafty rooms. A special porous rubber acts as such a seal.
- A quarter door installed in the kitchen will prevent foreign odors from spreading throughout the apartment.
Disadvantages of using shutter strips include:
- High price compared to similar models without additional rail. This is explained by the fact that the process of their production is technologically more complex, requires high costs, and installation requires certain skills.
- It is necessary to purchase and install special fittings (hinges), which differ from those used in conventional doors.
- When using a closer, it must be adjusted correctly. The closer to the moment of closing, the slower the blade should move.

In blind sashes, double-glazed windows are installed on the window rebate.
