Upholstery
“Jacquard is very good for a click-clack sofa designed for relaxation, as it is tactilely pleasant”
Once you have decided on the shape of the click-clack sofa and its dimensions, it’s time to take a closer look at the upholstery. What should be the guideline? The item must fit harmoniously into the setting, it should not be difficult to care for, and it should retain its pristine beauty for as long as possible.
The upholstery of the click-klyak sofa should match the interior
The type of upholstery will directly depend on the functional purpose of the room where the sofa is planned to be installed. For example, in an office or hall, where people rarely sit on the sofa, you can put a product trimmed with more delicate and easily soiled fabrics. But in the living room such a move would be unjustified. The upholstery here must have high wear resistance and resist abrasion for a long time. In the kitchen, in addition to wear resistance, the upholstery of a click-clack sofa will be subject to the requirement of being easy to clean, because its surface will definitely not be protected from accidental contamination.
The upholstery of the sofa must be wear-resistant
Capricious and velor. He doesn't like moisture or the vacuum cleaner. However, these materials are not uncommon in upholstery.
The type of upholstery directly depends on the room where the sofa will be installed
What else is often used to decorate a sofa is:
1. Flock.
2. Tapestry.
3. Chenil.
Now let's try to characterize each type of upholstery fabric.
Flock
This material is an attempt to imitate velvet, and quite successful, as the appearance and feel suggest. The fabric is tough, dense, does not fade, is easy to clean and is completely waterproof.

Jacquard
Very good for a click-klyak sofa designed for relaxation, as it is tactilely pleasant. The texture of the fabric is an interweaving of artificial and natural threads, which gives rise to original patterns and color combinations.

Velours
Fleecy, soft, attractively shiny coating. This is the most popular type of upholstery, although it is by no means cheap. Such a sofa will not last long, it will be difficult to care for it, but its beauty overshadows all these unpleasant qualities of the upholstery. You will spend the next few years in comfort.
Velor click-klyak sofa
Tapestry
The lion's share of this material is cotton, which is why it is classified as natural. Its coating is breathable and environmentally friendly. The click-clack sofa in this design looks expensive. The fabric responds well to washing, so similar models can be placed in both living rooms and kitchens.

Chenille
Pleasantly soft textiles, reminiscent of corduroy in structure. Good not only for living rooms, but also for children's rooms. Does not absorb odors, is not allergic, does not fade, does not stretch, but is very easily covered with snags. In houses where animals are kept, it is better not to use such upholstery.

Leather
Upholstery from the elite series. Products covered with it are always expensive, but the high price is fully compensated by the quality and long service life of the sofas.
Types of upholstery
In modern production, a large number of types of upholstery materials are used. In order not to get confused in this variety, when choosing, you should take into account the features of the room where the sofa will be located (functional purpose, degree of illumination, general interior style).
In addition, some materials have increased resistance to dirt and damage, which is especially important for families with children and pet owners.
Let's look at the features of the most popular upholstery materials:
pile fabrics - velor, corduroy and velvet - beautiful, soft and very pleasant to the touch materials that differ in pile length; look aesthetically pleasing and give the furniture an elegant look;
tapestries with various patterns - durable natural material with a high cotton content of up to 80%;
flock is a modern material with a special type of thread weave and velvety texture; is characterized by increased resistance to damage, in particular stretching and tearing;
chenille - has a durable color, a variety of shades, the fabric does not fade over time and retains its original color;
genuine leather is a traditional material for upholstery of luxury furniture; the appearance of sofas is respectable and noble;
eco-leather is a new material for upholstering a sofa click-klyak, the photo shows that the appearance of the upholstery is practically no different from its natural counterpart;
matting - weaving linen, cotton, wool and silk threads in various combinations and proportions; It is elastic and environmentally friendly, and also holds its shape well.
To make the frame, natural solid wood is used, which ensures reliability of the product.
The transformation mechanism is designed for long service life
Particular attention is paid to noiselessness when unfolding. In exclusive models, both children and very elderly people can easily cope with changing the position of the backrest.
Recommendations for selection
To purchase a high-quality sofa model, manufacturers recommend the following:
- check the transformation mechanism in action, it should be easy to unfold and fold, there can be no jams;
- upholstery fabric should not have holes, snags, unstitched seams, or dirt;
- it is necessary to carefully inspect the sofa from the inside: all fastenings must be well tightened, there should be no cracks on the frame;
- if you purchase a model with a box, you need to check whether its capacity is enough;
- the presence of armrests is not always convenient, especially when installed in the kitchen;
- an orthopedic mattress is a significant advantage, but it increases the cost of the product.
The operation of the mechanisms is pre-checked

Repair of the “sofa book” mechanism
Before starting repairs, you need to determine the extent and cause of the breakdown. As a rule, it is mainly the rivets of the guide strip that are bolted to the sofa frame that break here. They fly out completely or wear appears, leading to an increase in gaps.
For work we will need tools:
- Drill or screwdriver
- Rivets
- Hammer
- Anvil or any other massive stand
It is necessary to firmly fix the mechanism on the table surface, for example, using clamps. Using a drill, we drill out the broken rivet, starting with a small drill and gradually moving to the desired size.
To select the required drill diameter, the size of the rivet and its thickness, we measure it with a caliper. We insert it into the hole, with the cap down, and the part that will be riveted should face up.
If it is not possible to repair the mechanism using rivets, the bar can be secured using a bolt and nut.
Materials
The quality and type of materials used in the production of furniture will determine its service life.
When evaluating a “click-click” sofa, you should pay attention to the design of the frame, upholstery, type of filling
Frame
Available in two versions: solid wood and steel. Wooden frames were widely used when click-clack first appeared on the furniture market. Today they are fading into the background, but some manufacturing companies still prefer solid wood for its strength and environmental friendliness.
Lamels are made from wood - special plates with shock-absorbing properties, which form the orthopedic basis of the frame. They provide a full, healthy sleep on the sofa and enhance the effect of orthopedic mattresses. The base frame can be either wooden or metal. The first requires a more careful attitude, the second is less capricious in care.
Birch, pine or beech wood is used to make slats. Beech products are the most expensive and most durable
They are worth paying attention to if the sofa is purchased for two or for a heavy sleeper
Metal frame structures are distinguished by their high dead weight, low cost and durability. They are durable, reliable, and can withstand almost any load.
Upholstery
The color of the sofa is not everything
It is important to choose the right upholstery material in accordance with the location of the furniture in the house and its functions. It is wise to purchase expensive and wear-resistant fabrics for the living room that reflect the style of the room.
For children, budget options that are easy to clean and wash are more suitable. In the bedroom, soft coatings with an anti-slip effect will be useful, and in the kitchen, washable surfaces that do not absorb odors will be appropriate.
The most popular upholstery materials:
Flock. This is a fabric with a pleasant to the touch, velvety surface. A universal option in terms of cost and quality; Suitable for most rooms in the house. In terms of external characteristics, it is not inferior to more expensive materials. In addition, the use of different piles in the production of furniture flock allows you to imitate noble fabrics: suede, velor, chenille. Furniture with flock upholstery is available in a wide range of colors and price ranges. As for operation, flock performs well in different conditions. It is durable, does not shine, and repels moisture. Flock is treated with a protective impregnation, so it is not afraid of stains from food, felt-tip pens, drinks, which makes it convenient for children's rooms and living rooms. This material is not afraid of the claws and fur of pets, since it is very difficult to tear and easy to clean. Does not fade in the sun and is resistant to temperature changes.
- Chenille. A soft, “fluffy” coating that does not repel moisture well. Chenille is durable, does not fray on folds, does not fade, does not absorb odors, and does not cause allergies. It is easy to remove any stains from the surface of the upholstery, but marks from animal claws will be clearly visible.
- Jacquard. Jacquard upholstery looks and is expensive. It is very dense, “high-quality”, resistant to damage and sunlight, pleasant to the touch and varied in colors and patterns. Jacquard does not tolerate moisture, requires delicate care (dry cleaning only), and slips, which is not very convenient during sleep. Pets can easily make puffs on the surface of the upholstery with their claws.
- Tapestry. Natural cotton covering, which looks luxurious, lasts a long time, is resistant to all types of cleaning, and is available in a large number of colors. The naturalness of the fabric is both a plus (environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic) and a minus (it wears out easily and loses its appearance).
Manufacturing materials
The quality of the sofa and its service life directly depend on the materials used to make it.
Frame material
The storage box bears the brunt of the load and must be strong enough to support the recommended weight. It is made from laminated chipboard, MDF, wood and metal, and the laminated surface makes it much easier to care for.
The base can be made in two versions:
- solid chipboard, which is not very good for the bottom, since it will not be ventilated;
- in the form of a lattice made of flexible beech and also birch.

What fabrics are used for upholstering sofas?
When choosing an upholstery material, the main thing you need to pay attention to is strength. The most practical types of fabrics are:
Matter | Description |
| The fabric is 60-80% cotton and is one of the most durable upholstery fabrics. It doesn't tear and has a beautiful design. |
Flock | A fabric with a velvety surface to the touch, its main advantage is abrasion resistance. The composition contains 1/3 cotton, thanks to which the fabric can withstand the claws of pets. |
Jacquard | It has good density, thanks to which the fabric has a highly durable structure. Among the advantages, resistance to abrasion and fading should be highlighted; such upholstery will retain its original appearance for a long time. |
Chenille | This is the most popular upholstery material for sofas; it has excellent strength, wear resistance and does not fade in the sun. |

Frame
When purchasing upholstered furniture, you should definitely pay special attention to what material the frame is made of. The best material is considered to be multilayer plywood glued together from thin veneer blanks (usually birch is used)
The thicker it is, the more durable the structure itself will be. This material holds all the fittings well and is not subject to deformation during intensive use.
The cheapest models are made from chipboard and can be immediately identified by weight. Such furniture will be very heavy, so most often they use combined frames in which chipboard is combined with plywood or any metal elements. Such sofas are much more expensive, but at the same time more reliable and lighter.
Laminated chipboard is in no way inferior in terms of reliability and density to plywood, but at the same time greatly reduces the cost of the finished product. However, not every chipboard is suitable for use as a frame.
Natural wood can be used to create the frame, but in this case it is very important that the wood is dried as best as possible; normally, the humidity should not exceed 6-8%, otherwise the material will very quickly become covered with cracks. A metal welded base is considered the most durable; it is usually used to equip sofas made in a light modern style
In this case, the quality of the source material is of fundamental importance, as well as the strength of welding of units, main connections and the presence of anti-corrosion treatment

Upholstery
When choosing a sofa, no less attention should be paid to the upholstery and its strength. The following solutions are considered the most practical
The following solutions are considered the most practical.
Tapestry - this fabric consists of 60-85% cotton and is rightfully considered one of the most durable upholstery materials. The tapestry does not tear and at the same time has a very stylish design that can make the sofa a real interior decoration.
In this case, small dies (flexible lamellas), which are made of carefully steamed wood, are mounted into the body. This design ensures good air exchange and makes the seat softer. The orthopedic base greatly contributes to muscle relaxation and holds the spine in a physiologically comfortable position, thereby normalizing blood circulation in the human body.
When choosing the best mattress, it is important to consider the following factors:
- the total weight of users who will spend time on the mattress;
- age of users - products for children and adolescents have a higher degree of rigidity;
- health status - if a person has any problems with the musculoskeletal system, then before choosing furniture with an orthopedic mattress, you must take recommendations from your doctor.
Customer Reviews
Buyers describe the click-clack sofa as a comfortable and space-saving piece of furniture that is perfect for small rooms. Also, reviews often mention ease of use, which allows you to choose a model for children and teenagers. Another important advantage is the large selection of colors and models, thanks to which you can choose the right sofa for any interior. Those who choose the option with orthopedic properties often note that their quality of sleep has significantly improved after the purchase.
A sofa bed with a click-clack mechanism is suitable for both a small bachelor’s apartment and a house where a large family lives. In the second case, you should choose a model with additional covers and a linen drawer, which will make using the furniture even more comfortable. The relatively low price and durable mechanism are also strong purchasing arguments.
Armrest transformation mechanism (ratchet)
In addition to the three-position mechanism for transforming the sofa frames, the click-clack model “Finka - Lux” uses a mechanism for transforming raster armrests. The position of the armrests is changed using ratchet mechanisms (ratchets). The ratchet secures the armrest in several positions. The armrest transformation mechanism is welded into the frame, which makes the connection non-separable and does not allow the ratchet to be changed separately in the event of a breakdown. The main reason for ratchet failure is exceeding the designed load on the armrest. If the ratchet breaks, the sofa frames are replaced.
Taking into account the folding side
It is important to consider when purchasing which way the sofa folds out
Transverse
Sofas that fold out to the side are most often couches. In the daytime position they are especially compact. But when night falls, a comfortable sleeping place appears. The seat is moved to the side, thereby opening the linen drawer. When the armrest is folded, an oblong mattress is formed. This product is perfect for use in the kitchen.
The “Eurobook” and almost any other type of sofa can also be folded out to the side. A similar mechanism is also characteristic of the Elf mechanism. The point is that the side armrest is simply lowered. Then it is fixed in a comfortable position, simultaneously achieving an orthopedic effect.
Longitudinal
This solution is much more common. It’s not surprising - it’s simple and convenient, and doesn’t cause any problems for users. You can equip a forward-opening sofa with a variety of mechanisms; this is a suitable option for lovers of variety. Finally, this is simply the most familiar execution. There is only one minus - it is not possible to lay out the sofa straight out everywhere, sometimes it is inconvenient or even dangerous.
Description of the click-clack transformation mechanism
To transform the click-clack sofa bed, you need to lift the seat up. At the same time, the back will begin to fall down. When she reaches a horizontal position and lies down on the linen drawer, the seat will continue to move, reducing the angle between it and the backrest.
The first click will mean that the click-clack transformation mechanism has moved the latch to an intermediate position for relaxed rest. If you now begin to lower the seat, the latch will remain in the intermediate position, and with it the backrest. By lowering the seat to its initial position, we get a click-clack sofa bed configuration, on which you can rest half-sitting or half-lying.
If you continue to raise the seat after the first click, you will soon hear a second click - a signal that the latch has completely disengaged and is no longer held by the mechanism. Now the back of the sofa bed will remain in a horizontal position, and the seat can be lowered until it is level with the back, turning into one plane. This is a configuration for lying down, i.e. for sleeping.
The reverse transformation is performed in the same way as described above, only this time the second click will mean that the latch is held by the mechanism in the extreme engagement position, allowing you to convert the click-clack sofa into a sitting configuration.
Some models of such sofas have sides - something like armrests not only on the seat, but also on the back too. These sidewalls are also equipped with devices that adjust their position.
Advantages and disadvantages
A sofa with a click-clack mechanism has an undeniable advantage - the almost flat surface formed by the back and seat for the mattress, which can be made of polyurethane foam, or be a single spring block.
In addition, the steel frame, supported by the linen box, forms a strong and reliable structure, giving the mattress the properties of an orthopedic product. The linen drawer itself is much more spacious than other models.
The only inconvenience is the need to have a reserve of free space between the back and the wall so that it does not interfere with the transformation process (this disadvantage is also present in the case of the “book” transformation mechanism). Or you will have to constantly move the sofa bed to the wall, and when it’s time to sleep, move it back again.
However, the design idea does not stand still, and one of the varieties of the click-klyak sofa bed is a mechanism fixed in a box in such a way that during transformation it “moves away” from the wall, carefully placing the backrest, which is pushed close to it, into its place.
Care and operation
The click-clack transformation mechanism must be constantly lubricated. Its absence is the most common cause of failure.
When working “dry,” the friction between the moving parts of the mechanism, which are responsible for transforming and holding the two parts of the frame in a certain position relative to each other, increases sharply. Soon the mechanism wears out so much that, due to play, a misalignment occurs in it, preventing normal transformation.
Before you begin lubricating, carefully line the linen box. It is necessary to lubricate the central part of the mechanism, two pairs of rivets connecting it to the linen drawer and the seat of the sofa bed, and one rivet located in the center of the lock between the frames.
If, when transforming a sofa bed, you hear characteristic clicks on only one side, this means that one part of the click-clack pair mechanism is stuck in the lying position. The other part of the mechanism, which remains functional, can continue to carry out the transformation alone, but the load on it doubles, and it will not work for long in this mode.
If the malfunction that has arisen cannot be eliminated with lubricant, the entire mechanics will have to be changed - in “click-clack” sofas, the transformation mechanism is changed in pairs at once.
Build process
Many people, when buying furniture, do not want to pick it up from the exhibition stand, but prefer new ones from the warehouse. In this situation, the furniture may arrive completely disassembled and will need to be assembled yourself. In order to save money, buyers can refuse the services provided by furniture assemblers and do the assembly themselves.
Assembling individual models is a couple of trifles; with a “book” it will be a little more difficult. However, with practical guidance, this process will not cause additional complications. Let's look at how to assemble a “book” from one of the manufacturers.
It must be remembered that the designs of different manufacturers in the assembly may vary slightly, but without touching on details, the mechanisms are still of the same order.
1st Step. First of all, you need to unpack all the furniture components from the packaging.
This should be done carefully so as not to damage the materials from which the furniture is made. When unpacking the components, it is necessary to inspect each of them for damage and check the completeness according to the instructions.
I must say that nowadays it is quite easy to assemble a sofa even on your own. But the previous sofas from the USSR were quite bulky and heavy; assembling them was extremely difficult precisely due to the impressive mass of components.

How to choose a quality product
Sofa in the living room
When choosing a folding sofa with a click-clack mechanism, you must:
Decide on the dimensions and design of the product. Sit down or even lie down on the sofa. Comfortable rest will be provided by models in which the back has a slight slope and the seat is characterized by a medium degree of rigidity. Check the transformation system. Ideally, the steel from which the mechanism is made should be at least 3 mm thick. Before purchasing a click-klyak sofa, you need to unfold and fold it several times. There should be no creaks, distortions, or defects in high-quality products. Find out what materials the frame and base of the sofa are made of. For the manufacture of these elements, stainless steel or galvanized steel and solid wood should be used. The material for the base should be selected taking into account the age and weight of the future owner. Check the quality of the sofa upholstery click-clack. It is advisable to give preference to durable, wear-resistant, unpretentious materials. There should be no snags, crooked seams, or abrasions on the surface of the furniture
Particular attention should be paid to the back side of the back - for this part, unscrupulous manufacturers most often use low-quality fabrics. Find out what materials are used as filler. The ideal option is an independent spring block.

Seats and backrests
The base of the sofa is made either on spring blocks or using polyurethane foam.
The spring block can be dependent (Bonnel system) or independent. An option is available with a snake block (elongated, horizontally curved springs) and with orthopedic lamellas.
Advantages of shock-absorbing systems:
- long service life;
- reliability;
- withstand heavy weight;
- take the shape of the body, ensuring a healthy and comfortable sleep;
- keep the surface of the sofa elastic and smooth;
- air circulates inside, which ensures good moisture exchange and the absence of dust accumulation;
Flaws:
- Over time, the springs will begin to creak;
- expensive replacement of blocks;
- limited number of forms;
- high price.
Furniture polyurethane foam (aka PPU, FPPU and foam rubber) is a budget alternative to spring blocks. This material is distinguished by varying degrees of density (you can choose a more or less hard sofa), hypoallergenicity, a variety of shapes, elasticity, elasticity and reliability. Thanks to its unique structure, it does not accumulate dust.
Rules for operating mechanisms
Any thing, if properly cared for, will last much longer, and a sofa with a transformation mechanism is no exception. First of all, you should regularly lubricate the system with machine oil, since its absence is the root cause of failure.
When elements run dry, friction between them increases, which accelerates wear of the contacting parts. Subsequently, backlash appears. The consequence of this is a skew of modules. Therefore, immediately after purchase, you need to process all the parts and rivets, but first protect the box from oil.
The system must be periodically lubricated at designated points.
Caring for upholstered furniture
If you want to preserve its appearance for a long time, then purchase a special cover for the sofa that will protect the transformer from dirt and dust. To prevent wear of the design mechanism, lubricate it with oil. Otherwise, it will gradually transform worse, which will inevitably lead to breakage of the sofa. When a mechanism runs without lubrication, friction between moving parts increases. As a result, play will appear and parts of the sofa will be skewed, which will lead to a deterioration in the transformation.
Lubricate the sofa parts with technical oil immediately after purchase. The liquid must be thick enough, in which case this operation will have to be repeated over a much longer period than when using an aqueous solution. To lubricate the parts, first close the linen compartment. Next, lubricate two rivets in turn: the one that is located between the frames, then the one that connects the seat and the linen drawer.
What to consider when choosing?
When purchasing a sofa for personal use, pay attention first of all to the quality of the frame: the service life and the maximum weight that the model can withstand depend on it. The stronger the better
The second important nuance is the upholstery. Classic furniture fabrics - matting, velor, flock, chenille, jacquard - have their advantages and disadvantages. Be sure to study the properties of each to understand whether it is suitable or not. For example, animals can leave puffs on the matting. And velor or flock, due to their fluffiness, literally attracts pet fur and hair.
The last aspect is filling. Sofas come with springs (dependent and independent) and without them. In the first case, choose an independent spring block of medium or high rigidity. The second contains high-quality orthopedic polyurethane foam, covered with a softer layer of memory foam material.
Less is more
If we talk about mini-sofas, the choice is actually huge, as you can see by studying the photographs of small sofas in the interior.
The variety of fabrics, styles and colors can truly surprise and even put you in a slight stupor.
With the ability to store things in the sofa, you will not need to allocate space in the closet or even purchase additional cabinets, thereby taking up even more space.
It would also be a good option to buy a transforming sofa, which has a folding mechanism, for those cases when friends or relatives come and you need an extra bed.
And one more tip - when buying a two-seater sofa for a small room, think about the fact that with sofa options without armrests you will have more seating space.

Another undeniable advantage of click clack models is the removable covers that come included. This allows you not to worry too much about the cleanliness of the upholstery and caring for the appearance of the furniture. The covers are easily removed and machine washed. True, washing clothes will not do any good, so you should worry that the covers meet the operating conditions and do not spoil the interior. The appearance of the sofa should match the room. In an office or hall, it is possible to use easily soiled materials if there is no constant flow of visitors. Otherwise, worry about covers or leather upholstery. When choosing a sofa, make sure that the size fits into the interior. A large one will take up a lot of space. And even with large areas it will visually reduce the size of the room. When choosing a sofa in a store or from a photograph, take into account the possibility of optical illusion when the ceiling line is lost in the total area of the showroom, so be sure to inquire about the dimensions of the furniture.
What is a “click-clack” sofa?
Click-klyak is an improved version of the “book” mechanism. The main difference of the improved transformer is that it can take three different positions instead of the usual two: “lying”, “sitting” and “reclining”. The last option, when the back is at an angle of 45°, can be used for comfortable rest and relaxation.
The sofa with a click-clack mechanism has a reinforced back and a steel frame that rests on the top of the linen drawer. The design is characterized by increased strength, which allows the furniture to withstand weight up to 300 kg.
Does it have armrests
All “click-clack” models are divided into three types – with movable armrests (“ears”), with classic fixed ones (quite rare) and without.
The presence of movable armrests, which are an extension of the sofa and have four possible positions, provides the following advantages:
- they can be completely lowered or raised, which changes the appearance and functionality of the furniture;
- If you raise the armrests at the head when the sofa is disassembled, they can replace the pillows.
Before choosing a model with armrests, decide whether you really need such furniture or not. This sofa has a non-standard appearance and dimensions that do not fit into any interior.
Types of click-clack sofas
There are three types, each of which has its own characteristics:
- Direct. A universal model that is suitable for any room. If necessary, the transformer can not be folded out and used as a single bed.
- Angular. Spacious furniture, suitable for rooms where you need to completely occupy a large corner.
- Modular. A type of corner model, consisting of several components that can be used as poufs or armchairs.
Features: linen box, removable cover, pillows
Depending on the chosen model, a sofa with a click-clack mechanism may have a linen drawer, a removable cover and pillows. Now let's look at the features of each of these elements:
- The linen box is made of wood or laminated chipboard, which makes it strong and durable. In addition, the box is always roomy, so you can store all the necessary bedding in it;
- Removable covers help to preserve the appearance of the upholstery for a long time, since if necessary they can be removed and washed. If the set includes several covers at once, this will allow you to diversify the design of the furniture and not rush into washing;
- pillows play a decorative rather than practical role. If they are two-tone, they can be flipped, thereby slightly changing the appearance of the furniture.
Advantages and disadvantages
Let's start with the advantages, of which “click-clack” sofas have quite a few:
- Low price.
- Strength and durability of the structure.
- Ideally flat sleeping surface.
- Spacious and durable linen box.
- Three positions that allow you not only to sit and lie, but also to rest comfortably by leaning back a little.
- Simplicity of transformation, thanks to which both adults and children can disassemble the furniture.
This transformer has only one drawback: due to the structural features of the design, the sofa cannot be placed close to the wall, otherwise you will not be able to unfold it.

Features of the mechanism
The “book” transformation mechanism sets 2 positions: a sitting sofa and a sofa for sleeping. The sofa can be transformed into a sleeping position by tilting the backrest. During the unfolding process, you will not need to move the sofa away from the wall if you initially install it at a certain distance from the wall, because the structure of the sofa assumes the presence of unoccupied space between the wall and the back of the sofa.
Installing furniture in its original position is carried out in a similar way. The seat again rises until it clicks, then moves to its normal position.
The parts of the sofa with the “book” transformation mechanism are 2 metal or wooden supporting structures with fixed spring units or other soft filling. Below there is often a compartment for storing bedding. To prevent the device from jamming and the supporting structure from warping, centering rollers are used. They also save time and effort because they allow you to extend the seat without lifting it. There are several options for the “book”: “Eurobook” and “click-click”. “Click-clack” is practical in that it can be practiced in 3 positions: sitting, semi-sitting and lying down.
Advantages:
- a strong, reliable device that has stood the test of time, the diagram of which you will see below;
- Suitable for frequent use and organizing a place to sleep.
Minuses:
- The furniture can be folded out exclusively in 2 positions - sitting and lying. When transforming in the area where the folding elements are joined, it is likely that a bulge or depression will appear, which will adversely affect the comfort of sleep;
- the “book” cannot be installed close to the wall, since the unfolding mechanism requires free space between the wall and the back;
- women and children are sometimes unable to cope with the transformation mechanism;
- the elements of the transformation mechanism are quite thin and if there are errors in assembly, as well as non-compliance with recommendations for unfolding and folding the structure, they easily bend, jam and fail; in addition, the mechanism requires periodic lubrication with technical oil.
Driving without obstacles: what do traffic regulations say?
Transportation of bulky objects in a passenger car is provided for in the traffic rules. To ensure that transporting a sofa does not entail a fine, refresh your memory of the necessary points of the law
Please note the key information:
- The piece of furniture must not disturb the stable position of the vehicle or impede free visibility.
- Transportation of cargo that protrudes more than 1 meter in front and behind, as well as 0.4 meters on the sides, is carried out after installing a special identification mark. It should be attached to the sofa.
- Drive at safe speed limits.
Oversized cargo changes the maneuverability of the vehicle. The driver should avoid sudden braking or increasing speed - it is very difficult to hold a loaded car. In addition, when transporting furniture over a long distance, periodically check the secure fastening. Transporting a sofa in a passenger car is risky. Weigh the pros and cons before you go. Professional help and renting a truck will save your nerves - is it worth putting your soft “friend” in danger?
