How to put things correctly and compactly: in a closet, suitcase, backpack, bag and chest of drawers

For many, it remains a mystery why, after a short time of cleaning the closet, disorder appears there again. We spend a long time looking for certain things. Our mood deteriorates and the day can go awry. Every season we change clothes, our closet needs constant reorganization. And the fast pace of life, work, and many other things contribute to the fact that we do not have time to keep order in our wardrobe and things begin to get lost. And if our closet is small, and there are a lot of things, then the mess overtakes us even faster.

What to do about it and how to gain a sense of control over your things? How to organize a closet so that opening it makes you happy, and things don’t get lost and are always easy and quick to find? In order to forget about all these problems, step by step follow all the recommendations listed below.

We put everything on shelves in the closet

The habit of quickly stuffing things into the closet, without even folding them, leads to the fact that after some time a mess settles on the shelves. Everything will get wrinkled and lose its appearance, and this will only add extra hassle with things. It is better to initially put things in the closet correctly for perfect order, and there is a way for each type of accessory.

Socks

It happens differently with socks. Usually we lay them out so that one sock is in the other, sometimes we form a lump out of them. But these are not the ways in which optimal space is maintained. It is more convenient to fold socks more compactly and according to other patterns.

  1. Place the left sock over the right one and roll it into a small but tight roll. After this, tighten the roll with an elastic band and carefully fold it into place.
  2. Place one sock on the second and visually divide them into three relatively equal parts. Fold the top part with the elastic band into the middle, and then do the same with the bottom part. Then tuck the sock into the elastic band to make a compact envelope.

On a note!

In the children's department, socks are stored in the same way; you just need to sort the formed rolls correctly: by color, size, length, fabric density. It is better to do these manipulations after each wash.

Skirts

Keeping your skirt in perfect condition is quite easy. The hanger won't be useful. Fold the skirt in half lengthwise and then roll it into a not very tight roll. Such packages are stored in vertical and horizontal positions, do not wrinkle for a long time and are neatly placed in the closet.

T-shirts, tennis suits, wrestling shoes and T-shirts

It is important to be able to fold things carefully, and at the same time as quickly as possible. There are several ways to fold T-shirts and tank tops compactly in a short period of time.

  1. To begin, place the T-shirt on something flat and draw two lines figuratively: one horizontally in the middle, and the other along the center of the seam on the shoulder.
  2. With your left hand, grab the fabric where these two lines intersect, and with your right hand, grab the center of the seam on the shoulder.
  3. Then pull your right hand to the bottom of the thing and grab the edge. At the end, simply pull out your left hand without releasing the fabric. With practice, this method can easily fold a T-shirt in just a couple of seconds.

Jumpers, blouses and shirts

For blouses and jumpers, the method suitable for folding T-shirts is not suitable at all. A different method is used for them.

  1. Place the ironed and buttoned shirt with its back facing up.
  2. Fold the sleeves inward so that they lie parallel to each other along the shirt.
  3. In your imagination, divide the shirt into three proportional parts, first fold the lower part inward, and then the central one.

With this method, storing shirts is simplified, and they do not wrinkle for a long time. At any time, taking out a wardrobe item and putting it on, you can be confident in your neat appearance.

Trousers and jeans

Folding jeans compactly and neatly is quite simple.

  1. To do this, remove the belt and take out the contents of all pockets.
  2. Lay the jeans out on a surface and straighten out all the wrinkles, then fold them lengthwise, placing one pant leg on top of the other.
  3. Fold the bottom of each pant leg toward the waistband and then fold it again, bringing the bottom edge toward the top.

The resulting envelope can be easily placed on a closet shelf, leaving a lot of free space.

Jackets

It is advisable to hang jackets on hangers, but sometimes there is not enough space for this. Either there are simply no hangers of suitable stiffness or width. The solution to the problem will be to use the instructions for shirts. Place all jackets in a stack on racks so they won’t get wrinkled and will be easy to find. Form the pack in such a way that seasonal items are at the top, and those that are not suitable for the current time of year in terms of fabric density remain at the bottom. This will save time when quickly changing clothes or rushing to get ready in the morning.

Skirts

Pleated models, skirts with flounces, lace, voluminous and heavy fittings are not stored folded. The thing is deformed. Compactly fold things from dense materials. Silk and flowing fabrics do not hold their shape.

Instructions:

  1. Straighten your skirt.
  2. Make 2 or more vertical folds.
  3. Roll into a roll. Or fold it in half.
  4. Put it in the closet.

Skirts made of thick fabric can be compactly stored vertically along with jeans, pants, and leggings.

How to fold bed linen in a closet

When you have managed to put things in the closet correctly, the question arises of how to fit bedding in there as well. It also needs to be laid out compactly, and there are several ways to do this.

First, the washed clothes need to be ironed. To prevent unnecessary creases and folds from forming during ironing, shake the bed linen thoroughly. And to enjoy a pleasant aroma in bed in the evenings, drop a couple of drops of essential oil into the water while steaming. Adding oil to the iron tank will get rid of greasy drops on the laundry itself, and the “flavored” steam will saturate the fabric.

It is advisable to iron the bed linen so that the bed seems attractively soft and pleasant. But not everyone wants or can do this, so it’s acceptable to skip the ironing. Instead, organize your laundry by season:

  • Leave light, natural fabrics for the hot season;
  • use dense, warm materials in cold weather.

Now move on to the actual process of placing bedding in the closet.

If you have a sufficient number of seasonal sets, arrange them in such a way that pillowcases, duvet covers and sheets are in separate piles. This will make it easy to combine different parts of bedding with each other, getting original options.

Advice!

Place the entire bedding set in one pillowcase. It looks very neat and beautiful. Place all the kits in a stack. To add sophistication, tie the tutu with a beautiful satin ribbon, matching or contrasting with the bed linen.

BELTS AND TIES

This is where the delimiter module comes in handy. Their cells can accommodate the entire collection. Roll into a ring, not too tightly, with the buckle facing outward to avoid creases. And each one in a separate cell. Wide ones, if space allows, can be laid out flat, and corset ones can be placed vertically.

Another option is to hang them on special hangers. A belt hanger can be attached to a closet door, provided that the belts do not touch clothing (otherwise, hello, puffs!)

Arrangement of space in the wardrobe

The ability to neatly fold things is commendable, but this alone is not enough if there is really little space in the dressing room. Therefore, you need to wisely manage every free centimeter.

Let's get rid of unnecessary things

In everyone’s closet there is such a thing that has been lying idle on the shelf for several years, but it’s a shame to throw it out, “what if it comes in handy.” It is better to get rid of such clothes immediately, because they take up too much space. And it could be useful for what is really necessary and suitable in size and season.

Carry out such an audit monthly or at least once a season. And remember that you should only keep what is actually used, and take everything else out of the closet and throw it away or give it away without regret. Don’t clutter your apartment with blouses “for growth” or jeans “maybe I’ll lose weight.”

Sorting things

To correctly distribute things, you will use several criteria. One of them is seasonal sorting.

  1. Make room in your closet for summer and winter items.
  2. On the most convenient shelves, keep those things that are appropriate for the season.
  3. On the not-so-comfortable, but still accessible shelf, place clothes that can be worn all year round.

You can also sort things by color. This arrangement will charge you with positivity, and creating an image for the day is much easier and more enjoyable.

It is also convenient to distribute clothes by type of fabric. For example, place silk items on some shelves or hangers, and cotton items on others.

Another way is to distribute things into “top” and “bottom”. Place blouses, T-shirts, sweaters on the upper shelves, and shorts, skirts, and trousers on the lower shelves.

Parsing hangers

If you arrange clothes in your wardrobe perfectly correctly, then each item will need an individual hanger. But not everyone has an infinite number of hangers and sufficient space to store things in this way. For such cases, there are several tricks.

Keep your favorite, frequently used wardrobe items made of thin, quickly dirty fabrics separately in special cases (trunks) and use hangers with soft hangers for them. For convenience and a beautiful look, arrange your clothes by color.

Important!

If your closet contains a large number of items for different seasons: dresses, winter coats, fur coats, trousers, use storage organizers. They will maintain a good appearance, and things will not touch each other, which is especially critical, for example, for a fur coat or coat.

We store shoes and handbags

Be sure to have a separate place in your closet for shoes. Bottom shelves with a crossbar built on them are best suited. It is useful for securing high boots and over the knee boots so that they do not wrinkle or lose their shape, which is especially critical for patent and leather shoes.

For women's handbags, select the top shelves. To prevent bags from becoming wrinkled or losing their shape during storage, insert paper, soft fabric or foam rubber into them.

VISIBLE SPOT

The saying “out of sight, out of mind” also affects memory when it comes to wardrobe. If you don't see a thing, then, as a rule, you don't remember it. And the result is the same sets of things that are constantly in sight. Boring. All you have to do is arrange things so that they can be seen. This, in my opinion, is the main purpose of organizing your wardrobe.

A clothing dump can bring another unpleasant surprise: suppose you suddenly remember a beautiful cardigan that hasn’t been worn for a hundred years. And we decided to take him for a walk. And when they took it out of the deposits, they discovered that it was all crumpled and there were no buttons. It’s good if you have time to put it in order and a button, but what if not? In this case, the item is very often sent back to the pile, where it will lie until it is thrown away or given away. And you could wear it with pleasure.

Do you think this is a rather bleak picture?

So, let's begin to restore world harmony within the framework of a single wardrobe. First you need to determine in what position each item will be stored. Will it hang on a hanger, put it on a shelf, or be stored in a box? The storage method depends, first of all, on the purpose of the item, the type of material and frequency of use.

What is important to consider when packing a suitcase, bag or backpack

When preparing for a long trip, it is difficult to get ready in 5 minutes and not forget anything. It is better to approach the issue responsibly and take into account all surprises and situations.

  1. In order to be sure to take what you need, use the list of things that you definitely need during your trip. When compiling a list, it’s easy to understand which accessories you can easily do without and which ones you can replace with more compact ones.
  2. For convenience, collect sets of clothes for every day you are away from home. Arrange them so that you take as few things as possible.
  3. Before traveling, be sure to check the weather forecast so you can choose the appropriate clothing. Do not take spare items or only in minimal quantities, because they may never be useful.
  4. There are things that are easy to buy on the spot. It’s easier to buy soap, toothpaste and brush there than to carry these items in your suitcase. This also applies to other personal hygiene items for daily use. Just keep in mind in advance that if there are any physical limitations, then it is better to take your own proven products than to develop an allergy.
  5. Place things that will not be useful right away, or those that are too heavy, at the very bottom of the suitcase or bag, and place the most necessary ones at the top to make them easier to reach.

On a note!

For those clothes, food and other items that will be used on the road, allocate a separate bag. Luggage is checked in during the flight and placed deep under the shelf on the train. Taking out and unpacking a large suitcase all the time is inconvenient and impractical. In addition, this will lead to inevitable chaos.

SHOES

There are two options: either in original boxes, with photographs pasted on them (what a pity that Polaroids are out of circulation).

Or buy boxes with transparent windows from IKEA.

Because the principle works with shoes like nothing else: if it is not visible, then it is not there.

And rummaging through all the boxes in search of the right pair is not a pleasant task. For a long life of your favorite shoes, learn the rule: if you decide to put them in a box, clean them first. And stuff it with paper to avoid deformation.

How to compactly pack clothes for travel

There are several ways to compactly put things in a bag or travel backpack. Either roll them up or put one on top of the other in one interesting way, which you can learn from the video.

How to Roll Trousers, Jeans or Sweatpants

Place the suit trousers compactly in a suitcase, bending them lengthwise and rolling them into a roll. For jeans, it’s better to use a different method. Turn out their top part and place them lengthwise so that the trouser legs are on top of each other. After this, twist them, starting from the bottom, and wrap them with the previously folded upper part.

How to Pack Long Sleeves

To pack long-sleeved items compactly and conveniently in your suitcase, unfold the sleeves at an angle over the shirt itself and fold them in the middle. Then fold outwards a few centimeters of the fabric from the bottom and fold the right side of the shirt into the center, and then cover it with the left side. After this, roll the item up, starting from the top, and wrap it with the folded bottom part.

If this method seems too complicated, then try another. First, fold the shirt in half and roll up the sleeves lengthwise, and then just roll it up.

On a note!

If you put things in a suitcase in this way, your clothes will remain neat even after a long trip. After unpacking your luggage, your shirts will look the same as after ironing.

How to fold T-shirts

Fold T-shirts in the same way as shirts. This will be a little easier since there are no sleeves. To further save space in your suitcase, roll several T-shirts at once, placing one on top of the other. You will get a thick bundle of several items. When removing from your suitcase, simply place them individually on your hotel closet shelves.

How to fold dresses and skirts

There shouldn't be any problems with the skirt: just fold it in half lengthwise and roll it up. If the dress has short sleeves, fold it in the same way. Fold long-sleeve dresses using the same instructions as shirts.

After arriving at your destination, take out dresses and skirts, hang them on hangers or on the back of a chair and let them hang a little.

How to fold warm clothes

To pack a sweater compactly, lay it flat on a flat surface, mentally draw a line along the center and fold the item on one side so that the outer edge is adjacent to the center line. Do the same with the other side. Fold the sleeves along the sweater. After this, fold the product three times and pack it in a suitcase. To ensure that a voluminous warm item takes up as little space as possible, lay it vertically rather than horizontally.

If your outerwear has a hood, then fold it in the same way. Only after you have laid out the sleeves, straighten the hood, bend it inward and fold it in thirds again.

Roll up your jackets and tie them with an elastic band, soft tape or thick tights to prevent them from unraveling on the road. If there is very little space in your suitcase, use vacuum bags.

DECORATIONS

For jewelry and jewelry, it is most convenient to splurge on a special chest of drawers or dividers with a larger number of sections. The more sections, the better!

Necklaces and chains can be hung on hooks; when lying down, they happily and quickly get mixed up with each other.

And glasses can also be hung on a hanger!

How to collect cosmetics

It’s illogical to take full bottles of all your care products with you on a trip. Pour everything into small containers or even purchase special travel kits. To prevent anything from leaking out of the bottles on the road, use cling film: unscrew the cap, seal the neck with film, and screw it back on.

To prevent loose shadows and powder compacts from falling apart during transportation, place cotton pads inside. You can buy samples of cream or perfume, because they will most likely run out during the trip, and you won’t need to take them home. Put all this in a cosmetic bag or in a special organizer.

If you learn how to put things in a chest of drawers correctly, then problems with lack of space will not arise. By following these tips, it's easy to avoid clutter and pack your items neatly into your suitcase, travel bag, or backpack, keeping them wrinkle-free and looking neat.

UNDERWEAR AND STOCKINGS

For stockings and socks, dividers will again come in handy. Place one of these in a drawer of the chest of drawers and the socks living there will no longer resemble a multi-colored lump of who knows what it’s made of. It is very advisable to arrange stockings and socks according to “sameness”, so that in search of the twin brother of one stocking you do not empty out the entire drawer.

With linen everything is simple. Fold the bras one cup into the other, you can put panties in the top of the set folded in this way, put the next set in the resulting structure, and so on until you run out. It is convenient to store individual items in boxes without a top, so they do not spread throughout the closet or chest of drawers.
