IKEA children's chair - review of stylish models from the latest catalog (100 photos)

Already after the 1st year of life, babies begin to show interest in creativity. Their leisure time in this regard helps to organize a children's table and chair from IKEA.

IKEA itself recommends the use of children's tables and chairs for children on average from 3 to 7 years old. But many parents purchase these kits for children as young as 1 year old, and until the baby learns to reach on his own, they help him sit down and look after him.

IKEA children's tables and chairs are popular because here you can choose a stylish, practical, and most importantly, high-quality and thoughtful set for any budget.

Children like such furniture sets because... allow you to have your own corner in which you can retire while coloring or modeling from plasticine. The opportunity to provide a child with a separate place for creativity will also be appreciated by his parents - after all, then there is a greater likelihood that other furniture in the house will remain intact and unpainted.

The following detailed review of each series with the advantages and disadvantages of each, as well as reviews from real customers, will help you choose the appropriate option.

Attention! The cost is indicated in rubles. Prices are current as of the date of writing and may vary slightly.

Age groups of high chairs for children

The choice of a piece of furniture for a child directly depends on his age and height. It is important for parents to monitor the correct posture of their child from an early age. Chairs for children can be divided into several groups according to the years of their owners:

From 6 months to three years. These products include high chairs. From the general assortment of the company, three names can be distinguished: “Antelope”, “Spoling”, “Leopard”.

Classic models (“Urban”, “Agam”) are intended for toddlers from three to six years old. These chairs are larger in size compared to high chairs. They have sufficient height (up to the dining table) and a footrest.

School models for children from 7 to 12 years old. As an example, parents can check out the Jules children's chair in Ikea stores. The product has an adjustable back and seat, which helps maintain posture.

When choosing and using a chair, it is important that the child sits correctly. His elbows and knees should form a right angle when sitting.

Antelope

This model is presented in 2 variations - with and without a tabletop.

With a table the cost will be 999 rubles, without it – 829 rubles. Of course, the first option is much more convenient for both mother and child: there is less risk of getting yourself and everything around dirty.

The tabletop can be purchased separately. Costs 170 rubles.

The legs are made of durable steel, and the seat and table top are made of BPA-free polypropylene.

In the picture below you can see the dimensions of the furniture.

Attention! IKEA recommends using the Antelope high chair for children under 3 years old and weighing up to 15 kg.

The high chair has everything necessary for the safety of the baby:

  • fastened seat belts;
  • sides;
  • sustainability;
  • compliance with the standards and requirements of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN).

What do customer reviews say?

On popular review sites, this model received a rating of 4.7 out of 5.

Among the positive aspects of using mommies note:

  • ease of use for the child and mother;
  • very low cost;
  • reliability of the structure and fastenings;
  • presence of seat belts;
  • the opportunity to test in an IKEA store or restaurant;
  • ease of assembly;
  • easy to clean;
  • can be easily and quickly disassembled and taken with you.

Why was 0.3 stars removed and why is it still not perfect?

  • Height is not adjustable.
  • The position of the backrest is not adjustable.
  • Takes up a lot of space and is not foldable.
  • Rustic design.
  • No running board.
  • There is no soft pillow included, but without it it is hard.

Some buyers dealt with some of the disadvantages quite simply. For example, the problem of a hard seat can be solved by a soft cover sewn independently or to order. This will also solve the problem of boring design: with a bright cover it looks nice in the interior.

IKEA also took into account some of the shortcomings of this model and offered customers a softening pillow for the back plus three cover options to choose from.

Materials used in manufacturing

Most chairs for children are made of plastic. Lightweight material makes it possible to rearrange the product without much difficulty. Contaminants can be easily removed from the surface of the plastic. The material does not emit harmful substances even when exposed to high temperatures.

For older children, Ikea makes wooden chairs. Before using wood as a raw material, it is dried under natural conditions, without exposing it to chemicals. The surface is coated with acrylic varnish based on water emulsion or nitro paint.

Children's bed

The main element of a bedroom's furnishings is the bed. In the IKEA furniture catalog you can find various beds. Their size and modification depend on the age of the child.

For newborns, the catalog presents playpen beds with closed and open sides, removable guards and drawers for storing things under the bed of the crib.

The crib kit includes a mattress and a water-repellent mattress cover. The mattress is made of orthopedic polyurethane foam, which reliably supports the baby’s spine and does not accumulate excess moisture. Two covers are placed on top of the mattress. The top mattress cover can be washed in a washing machine at 60 degrees.

And photos of IKEA children's furniture often include a safe canopy. It can be purchased at the store. The peculiarity of the canopy is that it is not mounted on a tripod, but directly on the wall and is made from recycled polyester, safe for children and the environment.

A baby can sleep in a bed with sides up to 3 years old. Upon reaching this age, the bed must be replaced with a more adult one. The Ikea catalog presents many beds of different designs:

  • Classic single beds;
  • Pull out beds. They can be moved apart as the child grows. You can sleep on it until adolescence;
  • Loft beds. The bed is located on the second tier of the structure, and under it, at your request, a work desk, sofa or play corner;
  • Ikea bunk beds.

For single and double beds, you can choose a canopy tent. It will certainly be appreciated by older guys who already have a need for privacy.

High chairs

This type of chair differs in its shape and properties from other models. They have low cost and positive performance characteristics.

At first, it can be difficult to place babies in a highchair. You have to be sophisticated and come up with something to captivate the fidget.

However, over time, the work is not in vain and as they grow older, the kids sit on their chairs separately or at a common table with their parents.

Details:

When choosing a high chair for my child, the main search criteria were cheap and high quality. Prices in stores were steep and at that time we could not afford expensive purchases. We went to the IKEA store website, looked at it and went shopping. After a year of use, I don’t regret our purchase at all.

And now the details: the chair is made of high-quality plastic, lightweight, easy to clean. It disassembles into three positions - a chair, a tabletop (sold separately, that is, you can do it without it, just move the chair to a common table), legs. When disassembled it is convenient to store. The chair is stable, with seat belts. At first I had doubts about the white tabletop, I was afraid that it would be smeared with carrot juices or other coloring products. A year later - white as it was, without a single spot. The only negative is the lack of a soft seat; I had to put a small pillow so that the baby would not sit hard. But there is also a plus - it is convenient to wash. Total cost of the purchase: chair 800 rubles + tabletop 200 rubles = 1000 rubles. - cheap and cheerful.

Of course, the choice of chairs is now huge, but when you need it for a year and a half, is there any point in spending a lot of money. But in the end, everyone decides for themselves.

zitiff

I usually write rave reviews here, but this time I will be more reserved in my assessment. The situation is this: complementary feeding was introduced at 4 months, so by 6 months there was already a real need to stop feeding while lying down. I thought it would be better to buy a new antelope or buy something fancier from my own hands. Alas, I read good reviews, listened to my friends and went to Ikea.

We bought a complete set, including a tabletop and an inflatable backrest. It turned out to be inconvenient to feed a small child in it. There is no way to tilt it back, the son leans forward towards the spoon, food flows from his mouth onto the countertop (where it is then smeared with his hands) and onto his tummy and legs. In general, the losses are large.

About the inflatable backrest. My child is quite thin, only 6 kg, but it’s impossible to sit him down with his back resting. I insert it after landing. And in general, it’s cramped with her. Then, the butt sits on cold hard plastic. It's summer now, but you still have to put a pillow there, because... bare legs are unpleasant.

Everyone here writes that the chair is just for feeding, not for playing, but with us it’s the other way around. It’s uncomfortable to eat in, but I tied an electronic piano to the legs with an elastic band, sits and plays. But, of course, I don’t want to keep it there for a long time; there’s definitely a lot of strain on my lower back.

The straps don’t inspire much confidence; my son is already trying to get out.

In general, the IKEA chair is good only in IKEA itself, to seat a child while the parents have a snack in a cafe.)) I won’t hesitate now, but I won’t buy it for the next child.

Closer to 7 months, we began to think about buying a high chair. Although one of my friends argued that it was not particularly needed and that she could easily do without a high chair, especially with her second child, I firmly decided that we simply needed it.

Firstly, it’s convenient to feed the baby, and secondly, you can do “kitchen chores” together - it’s easier for both mother and baby.

Probably like many other parents, we want to choose only the best for our baby, and while we were looking for a suitable high chair, we were given this one from IKEA. They gave it as a gift without a table top, but with soft pads for the back. It’s strange, of course, that there is a soft pad under the back, but not intended for the butt. I don’t really want to sit the baby on plastic, so I used an ordinary kitchen oven mitt, it was just the right size)

However, after a couple of days they also gave us a tabletop, because without it the chair not only looks strange, but it’s also very inconvenient to feed the little one, and it also seems like the little one is about to fall out)

In general, I think the high chair is intended for a maximum of one and a half years.

Of course, a month later we bought a nicer chair) But, one might say, I got used to it and we even fell in love with it. Now we have taken it to my grandmother, we use it when we come to visit.

Among the advantages, I can note that it is very light, it simply folds (its legs can be removed) and it is very compact, taking up practically no space in the kitchen.

In general, if you are a supporter of minimalism in relation to everything, including the child, then this chair is just right. We bought a model for home, also not very expensive, but a little more comfortable, and we will use this from our grandmother.

Series of plastic children's furniture "Mammut"

Prices: for tables - 1799 (rectangular) and 2,299 (round); chairs – 699; stools – 499.

Cost per set – 2,498 rubles.

Advantages of the Mammut series:

  • design. Simple, minimalistic, but at the same time stylish and bright;
  • rounded corners;
  • light weight. The child can easily rearrange the chair himself. Therefore, parents should take this fact into account so that children do not get to things that they are not supposed to take.
  • non-slip surface. Thanks to the rough surface, nothing will fly off;
  • easy care. Easy to clean with water and regular soap and a soft cloth;
  • the simplest assembly, which consists only of the need to connect the main parts - the seat, legs and backrest - until they click;
  • Suitable for outdoor use. You can take it with you on a picnic, to the country house, etc.

Among the shortcomings noted by buyers:

  • electrified;
  • rough seams;
  • Permanent pencils and felt-tip pens can be difficult to wash (the problem can be solved by selecting a specific detergent).

Even taking into account the disadvantages that furniture from other brands may have, buyers give the children's furniture of the Mammut series a fairly high rating - 4.8 out of 5 according to review sites.

White children's tables with Critter chairs

“Critter” is available in only one universal color – white. They have decor on the back in the form of an image of a dog and a cat.

Price: table – 2,399; chair – 1,499.

Thanks to the material used – rubber wood – the furniture will last much longer than that made from ordinary wood coated with stain. This leads to higher customer ratings compared to the previous Sundvik series.

The main advantage of wooden furniture is its more expensive appearance in the interior compared to plastic.

There are still some disadvantages:

  • paint chips over time;
  • During active use, the bolts become loose.

Wooden sets "Sundvik"

This series also produces children's beds, chests of drawers and wardrobes, which allows you to furnish the nursery in the same style.

Price: for the table - 2,499 (simple) and 3,999 (with storage compartment under the lid); for chairs – RUB 1,299.

The series has its own characteristic colors – white and gray-brown.

Sundvik children's tables and chairs are made from natural wood, which makes them durable and environmentally friendly. Other benefits include:

  • appearance. Looks very stylish in the interior;
  • stable;
  • easy.

Flaws:

  • high price;
  • afraid of water;
  • The paint chips off quickly.

Due to the specifics of the material, the chair and table quickly deteriorate, but if desired, it can be restored by sanding and painting or varnishing.

Buyers rated the children's chairs of this series 4, 4 points out of 5. And the Sundvik children's table earned even less - 4 points.

A table with storage compartment under the lid scores higher.
