Ikea wardrobe systems are one of the most popular in the world, as they allow you to optimally and aesthetically arrange many things. But their main advantage is that the manufacturer gives you the opportunity to arrange the blocks at your discretion, creating the ideal storage space for yourself.
If you have a large amount of clothes and shoes, the question of organizing your wardrobe immediately arises, because even a large closet may not be enough to organize all your things. Therefore, you have to take up space with additional shelves, chests of drawers and other pieces of furniture.
For the convenience of storing all things, the manufacturer Ikea has developed special ergonomic wardrobe systems. Each of them has certain advantages, and today we will talk about their features.

The main advantage of the Pax storage system is the ability to independently plan its internal structure. The company's catalog presents basic wardrobe models that can be purchased in the store if they completely suit you, and it is possible to change the arrangement of shelves and drawers after assembly in accordance with changing needs. If you have certain requirements for dimensions, internal distribution of sections, color of facades and doors, then a virtual designer will come to the rescue.
If you don’t have time to plan on your own or you don’t understand the program very well, then you can create the design of your future cabinet with a company specialist.
The second feature is the affordable cost of the cabinet. There is only one frame on which the structure is assembled, but you can order more expensive fittings and cladding for it. The cost of the finished option ranges from 7,700 rubles for a two-section wardrobe and reaches 62,000 rubles for a six-section, three-meter structure made of natural wood. Another feature is a 10-year manufacturer's warranty on all storage systems.
Regardless of what material your “Pax” will be assembled from, the company promises warranty service for the product, which covers manufacturing defects in the design itself or accessories.

Assembly instructions
If you have at least minimal skills in working with a screwdriver, and the instructions do not seem like a bunch of incomprehensible words and pictures, then you can safely assemble it yourself. But not alone. Call a friend for help: sliding doors with glass are especially heavy and it is very difficult to install them alone. My husband and I assembled the closet together. We got it done in a couple of evenings.

Models
All Pax wardrobe models do not have a personal name due to the fact that the assembly concept involves the creation of a huge number of combinations, but they can be conditionally divided into three categories:
- With swing doors. Models with sliding doors are an excellent choice for those who save space in the room. The cost of this option is higher than the standard one, and it is more difficult to assemble, but these disadvantages are offset by ease of use. The only negative that these dressing rooms have is that the frame for models with sliding doors can no longer be used for swing doors. Models with hinged doors allow the doors to be hung from either side. Holes for hinges are provided on each side wall and are closed with special plugs. The doors are also attached to four hinges - two standard and two with closers.
- With sliding doors. Models with sliding doors are an excellent choice for those who save space in the room. The cost of this option is higher than the standard one, and it is more difficult to assemble, but these disadvantages are offset by ease of use. The only negative that these dressing rooms have is that the frame for models with sliding doors can no longer be used for swing doors. A special feature of sliding structures is the mirror design: you can choose the type of mirror on the door, its shape, engraving or sectional layout.
- Angular. The corner wardrobe differs from the usual similar options in its design. If standard models use beveled doors, which need to be opened simultaneously, then in Pax the doors are located on each section and open independently. Thus, the section where the drawers with linen are located does not open if it is necessary to remove outerwear.
Preparation of door facades
The same conductor made an additive for the shelves and hinges.
I ordered the doors from the same office where I cut the chipboard. They are an MDF profile in a film, fastened with special “butterflies” and in the center 8mm laminated chipboard. It was possible to insert a mirror, but since the bed is located opposite the door, it is not very good to hang a mirror: not everyone likes to see themselves when they are asleep
I marked the holes for the hinges using a ruler and drilled them with a forstner cutter - nothing complicated. Large diameters should be drilled at low speeds. I did this at the first speed of the screwdriver; as a result: neat chips do not scatter everywhere and it is easier to control the depth. It’s good if the centering spout is not very large, so there is less chance of drilling through.
I saw a jig for hinges on sale, but for me this is already overkill.
Materials
Pax wardrobes are made from different materials, and the basic cost of the wardrobe depends on them. Modern design involves a frame made of chipboard and laminated boards, the doors are finished with melamine film. The back wall is always made of fiberboard. Standard fittings are made of nickel, steel and have a copper coating. The baskets and other metal parts inside the structure are made of steel with a phosphate anti-corrosion coating.
The coating is based on epoxy or polyester resin with a colored pigment. Parts of wheels and handles are made of acetal plastic, plastic, polypropylene.
Doors and drawers are painted with acrylic paint.
All materials are suitable for further processing and do not harm human health or the environment. In more expensive models, the doors, and, if desired, the frame, can be trimmed with wood. Oak veneer is especially popular.
Required Tools
To assemble a Malm single bed from Ikea you will need:
- accessories included: screws, dowels, bushings, plugs, nuts;
- hex wrench;
- wrench for adjustment from IKEA (included);
- screwdriver: flat and Phillips;
- screwdriver (if available);
- hammer.
To assemble the canopy, give preference to specialized VIDGA kits from IKEA. These include:
- ceiling fasteners;
- bus corner connection;
- single tire;
- runner with hook;
- miter box.
- curtains (1 pair);
- hacksaw;
- ladder;
- drill;
- pencil;
- screwdriver;
- measuring tape.
Dimensions
It is easy to choose the right size if the buyer immediately comes with ready-made parameters, having made a preliminary measurement of the house. The developers of the Pax wardrobe models from the IKEA brand have thought through everything so ergonomically that the model can be ideally installed in rooms of any size.
Main parameters of headsets:
- height – from 201 to 236 cm;
- width – from 50 to 300 cm;
- depth - from 35 to 58, and sometimes even up to 70 cm.
Straight linear structures are installed along the center of the wall, near the wall closer to the window, corner or door, and also scattered near the walls. Corner options are suitable for interiors where furniture is arranged in a non-standard way.
Modular wardrobes are structures consisting of separate blocks. The advantages of this solution are that the block modules can be installed in any order, they are easy to move from place to place, and they are easily transported when moving. Entire sections can cover the entire wall.
