Create an accent wall with self-adhesive wall panels
Creating a design using self-adhesive panels is the fastest way to tidy up your room. The modern market offers a huge number of models, ranging from MDF to PVC, but this option will not create a special atmosphere, although artificial materials are less capricious and do not react to humidity and temperature conditions.
Since wall panels do not need to be prepared for installation, you should pay special attention to the wall. If it is smooth without cracks, chips or large bumps, you just need to wipe it to get rid of dust. If there are plaster/paint peelings, they should be carefully removed. If the removed layer is not deep, then it will be enough to go over it with a primer, but significant damage will have to be puttied. When the wall surface is ready, you can begin installation.
In the case of panels, the same rule applies as with wallpaper. If you want to raise the ceilings, then place the board vertically; when you want to expand the room, place it horizontally. To add volume and depth, the direction of the board can be changed by cutting at a 45-degree angle pointing upward. Important: If you choose just such a pattern, then two people should be involved in laying its central part.
In order not to make a mistake in the location of the boards, you need to draw a perfectly straight line in the center of the wall using a plumb line or measuring level. Installation begins from there, and the panels are adjusted at the same time. To do this, you need to place two cut boards close to each other and mark their location; if you are sure that they fit correctly, you can remove the protective layer.
Attention: It is worth keeping in mind that the adhesive base sets very quickly and well and then it will not be possible to move the panel without damage.
Once the central part is done, the work progresses much easier. You just need to carefully monitor the installation density of each panel, otherwise a beautiful and holistic design will not work out. Filling the corners requires special care; to do this, you need to measure each span and cut off the necessary part from the board. This is the last stage in decorating the wall; as a rule, more than one day is not needed for this work. Sometimes finished walls are varnished, but this depends on the choice of wood and the manufacturers' recommendations.
