On my creative path in the field of picture framing, I, like any master, learned from both my own and others’ mistakes. At times it was very difficult, but in the end I was able to define a number of rules for myself, which I will be happy to share with you.

Of course, there are exceptions - for example, expensive designer interiors, where even the wrong vase spoils the impression of the interior. With a small image, everything is exactly the opposite - a thin, elegant frame will look more harmonious. Harpoon

It is made of aluminum alloy or high-strength plastic and is used only for installing film ceilings. When cutting the material along the edges of the PVC film, an elastic harpoon is welded on a special high-frequency machine. The front wall of the profile is thick enough to constantly maintain the canvas in a taut state.

The harpoon fastening system is considered the most reliable. In addition, it allows you to repeatedly dismantle and reinstall the canvas without damaging the coating.

The harpoon profile can be:

  1. Visible - a small gap of up to 7 mm wide remains between the suspended ceiling and the wall. The joint is covered with masking tape (decorative plug) - white or the color of vinyl film.
  2. Invisible - located above the tension fabric and fits tightly to the wall. In this case, a flat surface is necessary, otherwise gaps will remain, and strong protrusions can damage the film coating.

Among the invisible ones, the gapless profile Kraab 3.0 is in greatest demand. It is a baguette with a round cord and does not require the use of masking elements. Made from high strength aluminum alloy. The disadvantages include the need for professional installation, but the appearance of the ceiling is more attractive due to its perfect connection to the wall.

Bead or wedge

It is a U-shaped wall profile made of aluminum. Designed for clamping vinyl covering using a bead (wedge). In this case, the loss of height is minimal - 1.5 cm. During installation, the canvas is inserted into a baguette and secured with a glazing bead. A profile of this type has a lock of a certain shape. The glazing bead consists of triangular slats with a rounding on one side.

Harpoon scraps can also be used as a wedge. They are located at intervals of 10 centimeters. A decorative insert is attached to the bottom. With this method, the dimensions of the canvas are taken larger than the length and width of the room. At the end of the work, the excess is cut off.

The clamp is inexpensive and easy to install. Subsequently, it is easy to access the base plate and carry out any work.

Use is not recommended for dense and heavy fabric - the glazing beads will not hold up. The wedge profile is rarely used by professionals.

Clip-on

It is a wall or ceiling molding made of rigid polyvinyl chloride. Designed for fastening fabric. It is made in the form of a clamp consisting of two planes: clip-on clothespins and a shelf for mounting. A canvas is inserted between them using a semicircular spatula. The work is not difficult to do - even amateur craftsmen can do it successfully.

There is no gap between the wall and the ceiling; the remaining visible part of the baguette performs a decorative function; the use of a plug is not required. The parts are joined only in a straight line, in the corners they are sawed at 45 degrees. Due to insufficient reliability, it is recommended to use it in small areas.

Aluminum profiles for this method of fastening are not available.

Selection of adhesive composition

Plastic moldings for ceilings are glued using liquid polypropylene or acrylic nails. When using this composition, there is no need to hold the baguette for adhesion to the surface; fixation is performed instantly.

Very often, putty is used as glue for baguettes, which remains after basic repair work has been completed. In the process of gluing baguettes, the joints of the elements, as well as the gaps between the baguette and the wall, are simultaneously sealed.

Special adhesive compositions allow you to create strong and durable structures, but they cannot be used for foam baguettes.

When using silicone sealant, the baguettes also firmly adhere to the surface, but this adhesive composition cannot be painted.

Materials

Polyurethane baguettes are somewhat less in demand - they are more rigid and dense compared to foam ones. A strong argument in favor of this material is its much lower flammability compared to polystyrene foam (polyurethane with fire retardant additives belongs to group G3: the flame goes out immediately after contact with the ignition source ceases).

A plastic ceiling molding (made of PVC to be precise) is a profile for attaching honeycomb vinyl panels. It is usually used in damp areas - kitchens, bathrooms and toilets.


PVC skirting board

Gypsum skirting boards are a fairly expensive material, positioned as an attribute of luxury renovation. In practice, its only clear advantage is absolute fire safety. Otherwise, gypsum is much inferior to competing solutions: it is much more difficult to install, fragile and very poorly tolerates contact with water when flooded by neighbors.

Wooden baguettes, on the contrary, deserve every approval: they allow you to make the interior of a room truly refined. For their manufacture, both noble wood species (oak, mahogany, ash) and regular or veneered pine or fir can be used.

  • Cut the reverse side of the product in several places.
  • Cut the whole baguette into several pieces and assemble again.
  • Heat the product using a hair dryer and make a bend in the desired place. The product is then cooled in cold water.
  • A polyurethane baguette for ceilings can be easily bent without using special tools.
  • Wooden baguettes are bent under the influence of steam, the steamed product is bent and fixed in position until it cools completely.

Culinary tricks

Any baked goods cannot be stored for too long. The product begins to stale, dry out, lose smell and softness. However, there are some culinary tricks that can prolong the freshness of bread.

How to keep a baguette crispy?

To keep the baguette crispy, the baked goods should be stored in canvas or woven bags. You can also place the product in a wooden bread box, which will absorb excess moisture. Due to this, the product will remain fresh and tasty.
