Palaces decorate the interior, giving it comfort and individuality. However, since they are on the floor, they quickly become stained and dirty: the fleecy covering easily collects dust and debris and needs regular cleaning. Of course, you can turn to professionals for help, but such a service is not always available. How to get rid of dirt and stains yourself? In this article we will tell you how you can clean your carpet quickly, easily and at no extra cost.
Before you start cleaning the carpet, be sure to vacuum it and only then use cleaning products to remove dirt.
What determines the choice of carpet cleaning method?
Thrifty housewives, taking care of the cleanliness of carpet products, try to find the most acceptable way to eliminate contamination: the most safe for health, effective and affordable. Obviously, to choose the right product, you will have to pay attention not only to the amount of dirt, the presence of complex stains, animal hair or their traces, but also to the characteristic features of a particular coating:
- product thickness;
- color.
- material of manufacture;
- pile size;
- period of use, etc.
How to restore color saturation to carpets
To return the trampled canvas to its former brightness, we use:
- vinegar;
- soda;
- raw potatoes;
- household chemicals.
The recipes are the same as for cleaning. Unlike folk remedies, a composition of household chemicals that does not contain chlorine refreshes the color of the canvas. To successfully clean rugs and preserve color and texture, we follow simple rules: do not allow stains and dirt to dry, carefully read labels on household chemicals, and thoroughly dry the fabric after cleaning.
TOP 5 types of carpet cleaning
As a result, we can talk about 5 main types of cleaning, each of which has its own nuances. More details about each of them can be found below.
Vacuum cleaner (simple or washing)
Regular cleaning of floor and wall carpets with the specified unit, of course, will be able to maintain the products in good condition for a long time. As a rule, a vacuum cleaner is effective at removing dust or small dirt; even a “cleaning” miracle is unlikely to defeat a large amount of ancient dirt. In addition, when using the latter, it is important not to moisten the coating too much, because It will then have to dry for a long time.
Snow
This cleaning makes it possible to refresh the color of the coatings, get rid of unpleasant odors and possible dust mites. Small stains can be easily removed from carpets of any length of pile. In an area with fluffy clean snow, the products are placed with the pile down, and snow is swept on top. After some time, the carpet is turned over, the snow is swept away or a beater is used. Repeat the procedure several times. The carpet is then shaken and dried. A great way to bring the smell of frosty freshness into your home, however, it is only applicable in winter.
It is important not to over-wet the carpet, otherwise due to the long drying process a musty smell may appear.
Household chemicals
This category includes sprays, powders, shampoos and stain removers. All products are quite effective and easy to use:
- The powders are suitable for dry cleaning of products, both synthetic and natural, with short pile. The most effective are: “Spot Lifter”, “Mitex” or “Sunlux”. Working with them is not difficult: just apply the product evenly to the surface of the carpet, rub it deep into the pile, and then use a vacuum cleaner to completely remove it along with the dirt.
- Shampoos are considered a universal product and are suitable for all types of carpets. They are actively used for cleaning floor coverings from long-term, strongly ingrained dirt. The product is distributed over the carpet in the form of foam, left for a while, and then removed with a vacuum cleaner. The popularity of such shampoos as “Vanish”, “Cinderella”, “5 Fave”, “Pchelka-Vors” can easily be explained by their zero impact on the adhesive base of the products.
- Sprays are in demand when cleaning carpets made from natural materials and having a fairly long pile. Over-wetting is not recommended for such coatings, so Universal, Vanish Oxi Action or Dixi products will be indispensable for soft, delicate cleaning. They are easily sprayed and effortlessly rubbed into the surface of the products, and after drying they can be easily removed with a vacuum cleaner.
- stain removers for a specific type of carpet, although there are also universal products. It is best to use them only on a contaminated area. Most often used: “Hello”, “Cinderella New”, “Mellerud”.
You must first test the effect of the chemical on a small, inconspicuous area. This will help avoid paint washout, damage to the pile, etc.
Dry cleaning (professional)
Carpet cleaning at a dry cleaner is quite popular because it includes a range of services for cleaning all types of carpets from dirt, odors, dust and bacteria. Many specialized companies disinfect products while completely preserving their structure. The advantages of dry cleaners are fast and high-quality work, although sometimes the question of price arises.
Folk remedies
These are methods that have been tested by time and practice, passed down from generation to generation, heard from friends and neighbors, obtained through trial and experimentation. They attract with their accessibility and efficiency.
Precautionary measures
Baking soda is a harmless and environmentally friendly material, but after using it, the rug needs to be thoroughly dried so that not a single area remains wet.
Carelessness will lead to the development of microorganisms in the pile. The product will acquire an unpleasant odor, mold will appear on it and can be thrown away. In addition, mold spores, once in the respiratory tract, can cause various diseases. Dry soda is a powder, so it should be used with caution if family members have allergies or asthmatics. In healthy people, getting the powder into the respiratory tract will only provoke a cough, but there is nothing good about this either. As for vinegar, it is better to work with it in rubber gloves, otherwise you can burn your delicate skin. When using sprays, you need to make sure that the drug does not get into your eyes, mouth and nose.
How to clean a carpet with folk remedies: TOP 14 options
Soda
The powder, which is well known to everyone at home, successfully copes with cleaning carpets - it is a good absorbent for unpleasant odors and dirt, as well as an affordable disinfectant.
When dry cleaning, the substance is scattered over the surface of the product and gently rubbed into the pile with a sponge or dry cloth. After approximately 30 minutes, vacuuming is carried out.
To carry out wet cleaning, prepare a soda solution at the rate of: half a glass (100 g) of powder per 5 liters of water. The resulting product is applied (preferably with a spray) to the carpet product and kept on it for 40-60 minutes.
As practice shows, this time is enough to return bright colors to the coating and remove dirt. At the end of the procedure, the product must be vacuumed.
Soda with vinegar
Mixtures containing soda are one of the most popular floor care products in the ranking. The active reaction between soda and vinegar and the rapid release of carbon dioxide serve as a powerful force for removing even stubborn stains.
Method No. 1
- Apply baking soda to the surface of the carpet.
- 1 tbsp. l. dilute vinegar in 1 liter of water.
- After 30 minutes, spray the solution onto the product and wait half an hour.
- Clean first with a brush, then with a vacuum cleaner.
Method No. 2 (for removing stains)
- Prepare the solution: 5 tbsp. l. water and 1 tbsp. l acetic acid 70%.
- Using a sponge, gently rub the mixture into problem areas.
- Apply baking soda on top and leave for 20-30 minutes.
- Vacuum.
Method No. 3 (increased impact)
- Dilute 4 tbsp. l. vinegar, 1 tbsp. l. baking soda and 1 tbsp. l. washing powder in 100-150 g of warm water.
- Mix the mixture very quickly and apply to the floor covering.
- Gently rub areas with heavy dirt or stains with a cloth and brush.
- After 30 minutes, dry and vacuum.
Before using the above methods, it is worth checking the interaction of carpet pile with acid.
Carpets do not like interaction with hot water: silk and wool coverings are especially vulnerable
Soda with hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is used to remove fairly complex stains and deeply ingrained dirt. To prepare the mixture, take 2 tbsp. l. soda and half a glass of peroxide 3%. To ensure that the product penetrates well into the fibers and dissolves the stain, it is poured onto the stain and left for 15 minutes. Then the dirt is simply removed.
The peculiarity of hydrogen peroxide is its bleaching properties, so this method is applicable on white or light-colored carpets
Laundry soap
Laundry soap is one of the most affordable, simple and safe cleaning products.
However, there is one caveat - it must be applied immediately after the stain appears. As soon as something is spilled on the carpet, you need to take a piece of soap, quickly grate it (on a grater with a large mesh) and in the amount of 2 tbsp. l. dissolve in 2 liters of warm water. The mixture is applied to the stain with gentle rubbing movements. After the composition has dried, it is removed with a vacuum cleaner. An option is when 1 tbsp is added to the soap solution. l. turpentine. Then, during the cleaning process, you will have to wipe the surface of the carpet several times with a damp cloth, and then ventilate the product.
Salt
Regular table salt is a good cleaning agent for both synthetic and natural carpets. Its feature is excellent odor elimination. In addition, blowing salt with soda gives excellent results.
Method No. 1
Sprinkle regular dry salt evenly over the dirty floor covering and scrub well with a brush until the first one darkens. Then the product must be vacuumed or beaten well.
Method No. 2
It is necessary to distribute the salt over the surface. While she is there, make a soap solution (hot!). Frequently rinsing the broom in the solution, sweep away the salt. The dirt will be removed well, and the carpet should be dried a little.
Method No. 3
Salt with lemon juice is an excellent way to restore brightness to flowers. The mixture must be mixed well, spread over the surface and left for 15-20 minutes. Then, similar to the previous method, remove the composition from the carpet.
Method No. 4
For light wet cleaning, a solution is suitable: 1 liter of water, 10 g of citric acid and 1 tbsp. l. salt. The mixture will refresh colors and remove odors, applied with a brush.
Do not use a hard brush, which can damage the fibers. Cleaning should never be done across or against the pile, only in the direction of the pile.
Lemon juice
Lemon juice is an acid, so it plays the role of a natural stain remover. To quickly remove stains, apply fruit juice (freshly squeezed) to the stain and leave for a couple of hours. After rinsing the surface with plain water, the carpet is allowed to dry and vacuumed.
Ammonia
Ammonia is considered one of the most effective cleaning agents. It is often chosen to remove juice or red wine stains. To treat the carpet, prepare a composition - 1 liter of water and 2 tsp. ammonia. The pile is cleaned with a brush and only this is wetted with the solution so that there is no aggressive effect on the surface of the product. After treatment, leave for 5 minutes and then wipe with a clean, dry piece of cloth.
Washing powder and ammonia
There is an effective solution for cleaning very dirty carpets:
- 2-3 tbsp are diluted in 8 liters of water. spoons of washing powder.
- Add 1 tbsp to the resulting solution. a spoonful of ammonia.
- Use a cloth to wipe the carpet with the mixture several times.
- As a result, the product is passed with a soft brush and dried well.
Tea brewing
Tea leaves are a good way to neutralize unpleasant odors and minor stains. An important nuance - use only for dark-colored floor coverings! Otherwise, you can simply ruin a good light carpet.
The algorithm of actions is quite simple:
- Fine leaf tea (green or black) is brewed.
- The leaves are wrung out and scattered while still wet over the areas intended for cleaning.
- After the tea leaves dry, use a broom or vacuum cleaner.
Sauerkraut
You won’t learn a lot from grandmothers, but the proposed cleaning method works! The main thing is to choose cabbage that has not been prepared with vinegar, and rinse it to get rid of the characteristic smell of pickled vegetables. Then you need to scatter the cabbage over the surface and, using a broom or brush, roll it over the entire surface. The pieces will collect dirt, so they must be collected periodically, washed and the process repeated until the cabbage stops getting dirty. At the end, everything is put away and can be vacuumed.
Potato juice
This method also belongs to the “vegetable” category and serves to return the carpet to neatness, brightness and freshness. The action plan is as follows:
- Peel several potatoes, wash thoroughly and grate with a fine grater;
- pour ice water over the mixture and leave for 1 hour;
- squeeze and strain;
- Moisten the brush in the liquid obtained after squeezing and clean the carpet.
It is important to very carefully remove any remaining cleaning product used. Since its residues can lead to faster contamination of the floor covering in the future
Gasoline and sawdust
This combination may sound wild to some, but this composition has proven itself to be effective in removing difficult stains that have long and firmly “grown” into the structure of the carpet. The only thing that owners will have to put up with is a persistent, specific smell that will last for several days. But as a result, a mixture of gasoline and sawdust will help cope with contaminants such as chocolate, plasticine, varnish, urine, wine, etc.
First, you need to vacuum the carpet and prepare a cleaning mixture. To do this, add gasoline to the soap solution in a ratio of 10:1. We saturate the sawdust well with the resulting composition, apply it generously to problem areas and leave to absorb dirt and dry completely. Then everything is swept away with a broom without any problems.
Kerosene and washing powder
It is not surprising that kerosene does not lag behind its brother gasoline. A product consisting of kerosene, washing powder and water shows a good result. This composition is used for cleaning woolen products or synthetic floors:
- the powder dissolves in water, as for everyday washing;
- add 1 tsp per 1 liter of solution. kerosene;
- The mixture is gently applied and rubbed into the areas to be cleaned with a sponge.
As in the previous case, it will take some time for the smell of kerosene to disappear.
Solid "soap"
This method will require preliminary preparation, but the hostess will be ready for any force majeure. To create “soap” you need:
- gather together wheat flour, table salt, ground pumice and wine vinegar in a ratio of 6:1:1:0.3;
- add a small amount of water to the mass, stir and heat over very moderate heat until the consistency of a thick paste;
- Cool the thick mass;
- When cold, cut the product into manageable pieces (it resembles soap in hardness).
And then, if necessary, the “soap” is taken out and the carpet begins to be cleaned in the same direction as the pile. The remaining mixture is brushed off the product with a dry brush.
Nice floor and beautiful carpet in the house
It should be noted that fairly modern apartments use relatively small carpets, which can have different geometric shapes. Such rugs are original accents in the interior.
Absolutely every rug in the house must be laid on a perfectly flat, fully maintained floor covering. In this way, the palace will be able to maintain its integrity and will not be subject to absolutely any mechanical damage.
- The palace will be the perfect complement to absolutely any floor covered with tiles, laminate or parquet. The palace provides additional insulation for the floor and also retains heat.
- A quality floor is very important for absolutely any home because it provides good coverage. Easy to maintain and clean. The rug also gives the interior of the room in which it is placed an additional accent.
Under no circumstances should you walk on a wet carpet immediately after the cleaning process is completed. Otherwise, the palace will again be dirty. The rug should always be dried as thoroughly as possible. Otherwise, fungi will form in it and mold will grow.
While cleaning the carpet, remove absolutely all your pets from the room in which it is placed.
What you need to know about traditional cleaning products
If you know a few details when using improvised means, then cleaning carpets at home will be very effective and of high quality:
- Based on the principle of salt, you can use sawdust, tea leaves, bran, starch, semolina, etc.
- Sawdust works well not only when wet (gasoline with detergent), but also when dry.
- Ground pumice should be the size of coarse salt.
- Semolina and bran cannot be moistened; they are used only in a dry state.
- The tea leaves stains of a yellow tint.
Before any cleaning, you must first vacuum the product, which will significantly reduce the amount of dirt and dust
Household chemicals
Using household chemicals when cleaning a rug can cause problems, but if you follow simple rules, you will be pleased with the results.
- We clean the rugs with the windows open. The strong odor of the product can negatively affect the skin, respiratory organs, and mucous membranes.
- We use gloves.
- Thoroughly rinse the product off the lint. The health of family members, especially small children and pets, directly depends on this.
- Read the labels carefully and follow the dosage.
- We carry out the cleaning, expelling the family from the apartment. This way things will be done faster and more efficiently.

Methods for removing various stains on carpets
In addition to various cleaning methods, which must be carried out regularly, there are ways to remove different types of stains. If a child smears plasticine on the carpet, guests spill wine, or your beloved dog puts meat juice, you need to act immediately:
- Fruit stains can be removed by a mixture of laundry soap and apple cider vinegar in proportions 1:1 and diluted in 1 liter of water. The product is applied to the stain, gently rubbed in, and then removed with clean water.
- Coffee stains can be removed with dishwashing liquid. Fresh stains should be slightly wetted, add a couple of drops of gel, rub and rinse with water. Hydrogen peroxide and even beer cope well with this task.
- long-standing traces of coffee . It is applied to the stain and left overnight, and washed off in the morning with a detergent solution.
- Grease stains are removed efficiently with a mixture of salt and alcohol (1:4). The product is rubbed several times in the direction of the pile. Not so quickly, but it is possible to remove traces of fat with chalk with talcum powder, tooth powder or starch. Pour the powder onto the stain and let it sit for a little over an hour, then vacuum the coating.
- To remove wax, paraffin, chewing gum, and plasticine, we use the cold method. We apply ice in the bag to the problem area to bring it to a solid state, and then remove it with a knife or scraper. Sometimes they use a completely opposite method - a cloth or napkin is applied to a drop of the substance, and a hot iron is passed over it. The disposal item must remain on the fabric.
- Blood stains can only be removed with cold water. We soak it, if it’s dry, soak it, take shaving cream and rub it into the stain. You can take a soda solution, hydrogen peroxide or ammonia. After a certain period of time, wash everything off with a sponge.
- Stains on carpets with a dark surface can be easily removed with table salt or lemon juice.
- Salt can also be used on red wine stains. The cleaning area must be quickly filled with wine, but only white, and moistened with cold water. The next step is salt in unlimited but reasonable quantities. We cover the stain with it, leave it and vacuum it after 15 minutes.
- To remove stains from ballpoint pens and felt-tip pens, use alcohol or a solution of glycerin and liquid soap.
If stains from drinks, food or for any other reason appear on the carpet, they must be removed immediately.
How to eliminate odor
Odors are effectively eliminated by products that remove dirt embedded in the fibers.
- Soda. Just use it for cleaning.
- Fabric softener. Add it to a washing vacuum cleaner or treat the cleaned canvas with a spray bottle. After drying, vacuum thoroughly.
- Chlorine-containing products. Not suitable for all types of carpet; colored ones will leave whitish spots. And if you don’t remove the remaining product, it will fill the room with the smell of chlorine and make walking barefoot unsafe.
The smell of urine is countered with a mixture of water, iodine, potassium permanganate (1 l/20 drops/0.05 g). We saturate the stain with the solution, then rinse with clean water, dry with a rag, and go through with a vacuum cleaner. Not suitable for white fabrics.
How to effectively clean carpet stains at home
Certain types of stains deserve special attention. We suggest you find out in advance how you can get rid of them so that the product looks like new.
Difficult stains require special attention
Berries, honey and butter
Spilled honey should be disposed of immediately. The resulting stain is covered with flour or talcum powder. The resulting mass is scraped off, and the remains are washed off with soap or soda solution. Stains left from vegetables and berries are removed by applying a solution consisting of a teaspoon of shaved laundry soap, apple cider vinegar and a liter of water.
Solidified fat can be easily removed with a blunt scraper or knife. A fresh stain can be blotted with a paper towel, achieving maximum absorption of the stain. Then you can use soda, salt or glycerin.
You need to get rid of fat immediately
Paint and ink
To get rid of ink, pour salt onto the stain and wait 10 minutes. Then the surface is washed with soapy water and water. You can use lemon juice to remove fresh stains. Paint can be removed using a white vinegar solution.
Ink at home should be removed immediately
Wax, paraffin, plasticine and glue
Plasticine should be removed from the carpet immediately using a special scraper or any other sharp object. Ice is applied to the remaining part, and the frozen plasticine is removed using a scraper. Instead of freezing, the composition can be heated, and then iron the stain through a towel. The contaminant will be absorbed into the paper or fabric. The action should be repeated several times until the contamination is completely removed. Instead of heat and ice, a special soap “Antipyatnin” is often used to lather the dirt. After half an hour, the foam is washed off. Traces can be removed with acetone or white spirit.
Wax can be scraped off

Cleaning tools
To care for the rug you need a number of devices. The main requirement is that they do not damage the fibers of the coating. To care for your flooring, it is useful to stock up on:
- soft brush;
- cotton rag;
- sticky roller to remove hair;
- foam sponge - you can remove hairs with it by wetting it with water and squeezing it out;
- with a vacuum cleaner.
When deciding how to clean a rug from stains, you should pay attention to a washing vacuum cleaner. It copes with general pollution and can also help in the fight against stains.
Soap solution
Laundry soap is an excellent product that will help remove even difficult stains. It is impossible to apply soap in its pure form to a pile of any length, as this will literally wash out the piles and the carpet will look untidy.
The cleaning method in this case is as follows:
- Prepare a soap solution. For 0.5 liters of water you need to take 5 grams of grated soap and stir well. You need to use a regular brown block.
- Using a soft brush or broom soaked in a soapy solution, apply the solution to the entire surface.
- Leave for half an hour. Afterwards, rinse with a damp cloth and dry.

Sauerkraut
One of the most non-standard cleaning methods, but effective. Cleaning algorithm:
- Squeeze the cabbage from the brine.
- Spread it over the surface in a thin layer and leave for a couple of hours.
- Remove the cabbage with a moderately stiff bristle brush.
- Rinse it under running water and place the mushrooms on the carpet.
- The procedure is repeated until the cabbage remains perfectly white.
After such cleaning, the carpet should be thoroughly rinsed and dried in fresh air.
Ammonia
It is necessary to prepare a solution from ammonia: dissolve 2 tablespoons of ammonia in 1 liter of water. Apply to the pile using a sponge or soft brush, using circular movements, gently rubbing. Pollution will disappear before your eyes. After such cleaning, you need to thoroughly rinse off the ammonia (warm water) and ventilate the premises well so that there is no unpleasant odor.
Important! If airing does not help and the smell remains, you should wash the carpet with soap, similar to the method where laundry soap is used.
Salt
Cleaning with salt is quite easy, but you should use fine Extra salt. It will help get rid of contaminants if they have not yet become ingrained. The order is as follows:
- Apply a little salt to the pile and rub in gently with your hands.
- Leave for a couple of minutes, then vacuum.
- If possible, you should send the carpet outside and beat it thoroughly.
The cleaning process here is based on the fact that salt has the ability to absorb fat and moisture.
Recommendations
If you want to get the fastest and highest quality results, then you need to always have the following products at home:
- “Vanish” is a pink bottle with a concentrated soap solution that will always come to the rescue and remove any dirt with its foam. Disadvantages - the bottle is enough for only 2 cleanings, high price.
- Brushes for removing animal hair - just wipe the bristles thoroughly and most stains will be removed without the use of auxiliary products or chemicals.
- Tea leaves and sauerkraut - to remove hair and other contaminants. It is enough to scatter one of the products over the surface of the carpet, wait 40 minutes, and then remove them with a broom. The carpet will be bright, clean and beautiful.
Features of the carpet
The characteristics of the product itself play a decisive role in choosing a cleaning method.
Material
It is quite obvious that the material from which the rug is made determines what substances and temperatures it can withstand. A carpet can be made from different materials.
Synthetics are the most common and most practical option, since synthetic threads are unpretentious. To clean them, simply vacuum them.
In case of difficult stains, it is permissible to use almost any means, with the exception of solvents. Most industrial chemistry is designed specifically for synthetic samples.
Such tracks can even withstand washing if their base is not glued. The adhesive base can only be cleaned dry.
Wool is a finicky coating that requires careful handling. Baking soda and starch are suitable for cleaning. Sometimes (no more than once a year) woolen fabric can be wiped with a weak soap solution on both sides. Do not use salt or bleach, or place it in the sun.
Silk is an even more finicky material to care for. It does not accept moisture at all. Powerful mechanical action destroys delicate fibers, so you should be careful. Steam generator treatment, brushes, soap, solvents, and chlorine chemicals are prohibited.
Best care method: Shake gently. If there are any stains, then it is permissible to wipe this area with suede moistened in a weak vinegar solution.
Viscose - will not tolerate washing and strong friction. Preparations with chlorine and alkali spoil the product.
A vacuum cleaner without a turbo brush is suitable for constant cleaning, and special foaming compounds are suitable for more thorough cleaning.
Fur – natural fur bedding is a source of pride for the owner. But there is a lot of hassle with them: they cannot be washed or vacuumed, and almost all cleaners are prohibited.
To remove debris, it is advisable to carefully shake them out; you can treat them with soda. To remove sewage, a recipe with gasoline, ammonia or vinegar is suitable.
Pile length
This setting determines what type of cleaning will be applied.
- Short – easy and quick to clean. Moreover, you can use any means (including folk ones) and equipment that are available to you.
- Long – Cleaning a long-pile carpet is not the easiest task, as particles of debris, pet hair and hair get stuck between the threads. Such products should not be actively rubbed or vacuumed at high power: the base can be damaged. In addition, if the coating is wetted abundantly, it will be difficult to dry it, and this increases the risk of mold and unpleasant odors. The best approach would be to carefully knock out and treat with foam that pushes out dirt. You can go through particularly difficult areas with a steam cleaner.
Color
In order not to spoil the appearance, it is recommended to select a method taking into account the color of the product:
- dark and colored - for such carpets it is not recommended to use any white powders, as they leave unsightly stains. It is allowed to resort to mixtures based on vinegar, ammonia or tea;
- light and white - soda and starch, as well as soap, are useful here. Of course, any coloring substances such as tea leaves are prohibited. Lemon juice is also not advisable as it leaves yellow marks.
Snow
This method is specific, since snow cleaning is possible only in winter and at persistent subzero temperatures. True, this is the most inexpensive option. Procedure:
- Take the rug outside into the snow and spread it with the pile down.
- Carefully trample on it, and then beat it off with a stick.
- Then turn over to the other side and repeat the steps.
- Snow that darkens should be swept away and not left on the pile for a long time, especially if it is medium or long.
- As the snow gets dirty, move the carpet over the snow.
The process can be considered complete when the snow remains clean after beating with a stick.
