Fishermen have to wait a long time for a bite, so many take a folding chair with them. This simple accessory allows you to relax and enjoy the process. Modern manufacturers offer a wide range of special equipment. However, making a fishing chair with a backrest with your own hands is not so difficult, following the step-by-step recommendations of experts.
When fishing while standing or sitting on a mat, your back and legs become numb
Features of fishing chairs
You can assemble various models with your own hands from various materials. But their basic characteristics remain unchanged. Among the qualities that chairs should have are the following:
- Stability. The chair must be stable regardless of the topography of the coastal strip.
- Power. The design must withstand the weight of the fisherman and not break after the first use.
- Reduced size and weight. Storing a bulky and heavy chair even in a personal car can be problematic. And in cases where it is necessary to overcome a certain distance, any person tries to lighten his burden. A heavy or large chair is unacceptable in such a situation.
Additional accessories
Fishing chairs can be equipped with additional accessories. These could be footrests, sun umbrellas, fishing rod holders, folding tables, fabric side pockets. But do not forget that all this must be somehow delivered to the fishing spot. Therefore, if you go fishing on foot or ride a bicycle, then the best option is the one that weighs less.
It is advisable to store the fishing chair in a specially designated place where it will not disturb anyone and will be protected from moisture.
Making a homemade fishing chair is not difficult and does not take much time, but it will make your fishing much more comfortable.
Many fishermen practice making various accessories with their own hands. Firstly, it is interesting, and secondly, this approach allows you to save significant money.
Recommendations
- it is necessary to carefully consider the design of the chair so that it is comfortable and durable;
- To create a fishing chair, you should use the highest quality elements so that the product is strong and durable;
- Be sure to consider your fishing area to choose a suitable chair design;
- Of course, you need to take into account the weight category of the fisherman when starting to create a drawing for making a chair with your own hands;
- Before you go fishing, check the strength of the chair; you can put something heavy on it, the weight of which is close to the weight of an amateur fishing chair;
- It is best to choose a color scheme that matches the environment. So that sitting in a chair does not cause unpleasant emotions and experiences.
What is
The chair is called a feeder chair after the name of the bottom fishing gear and the method of fishing using it. This method involves feeding the fish. The process itself can drag on for hours until the prey is caught on the hook. So that your body does not get tired and your attention does not weaken, you will need a comfortable and functional seat.
This is usually a folding chair made of a metal frame with an elastic seat and back. Good models are equipped with folding tables for snacks and bait, as well as a separate place for setting a fishing rod. A DIY fishing chair must meet a number of requirements:
- Lightweight - its low weight allows you to easily carry the seat, which is especially important when traveling fishing without a personal car.
- Compactness - this nuance will allow you to transport the chair without problems. Most fishing chairs use a folding mechanism for this purpose.
- Stability - comfort is impossible in a chair that wobbles or stands on flimsy legs, in addition, there is a danger that such a seat will tip over.
- Resistance to stress - the product must be strong and durable, because careless landing or reckless fishing can lead to breakage of unreliable models.
- Adjustability - the ability to adjust the seat back and leg height allows you to take an anatomically comfortable position. The back will not be overly loaded, and the legs will not become numb.
Thus, the main requirements for a feeder chair are reliability and convenience. After all, waiting for a long time to catch a catch, fishermen can sit in one place for hours, and it will be unpleasant if a chair with a backrest breaks at the most inopportune moment.

Design options
Before deciding how to make a fishing chair with your own hands, you need to decide what type it should be.
The simplest option is a stool. These are the lightest and most compact models that are easy to carry. Moreover, their manufacturing technology is simpler than other options.
A fishing chair with a back will be more comfortable. Assembling with your own hands is a little more difficult than the previous option. However, it will allow you to relax your back when sitting for long periods of time, which is also important for any angler.
The most comfortable option is a chair that has both a back and armrests. Sitting on it, the angler will not experience muscle tension. True, such models are heavy. But if you go to the fishing spot in a personal car, this is not a problem. One of the modifications of this model can be considered a folding chair. You can also lie down on it.
Experienced fishermen often prefer a wheelchair. You can sit on it. And inside it has storage space where you can hide gadgets, tools or take a photo. This option resembles a home closet. There is only room at the top. In order not to get up every time you need to look at the contents of the drawer, the drawer can be designed as a drawer.
Selection principles
Any chair should be comfortably adjustable. It should have reliable systems for adjusting the chair, legs, and handles. What matters is the time when the fisherman is going to fish.
If the fishing process falls in winter, then you need to make sure that the ice fishing chair stands securely on the surface. It should be smooth and durable.
Very often it is not possible to get to a fishing spot in one or several hours. For this reason, you have to use public transport or walk. In such situations, the size of the chair is important. Universal folding chairs are the right choice.
It is also very important that the weight of the chair is light. Heavy four-legged companions have never added joy to anyone during a hike.
Sometimes the criterion for choosing a chair is its cost. The price of a fishing table can start from 3,000 rubles and end at around 7,000 rubles.
Finishing
To increase the service life of the feeder and maintain its presentable appearance, various upholstery options are used. They depend on the material used and can be as follows:
- Wood - treated with an antiseptic composition that actively resists mold and mildew. A primer and varnish or varnish are also applied on top. This set of procedures will help increase the moisture resistance of the tree, as well as its resistance to temperature fluctuations.
- Metal. The main problem is rust, which destroys the structure of the pipes and the overall strength of the product. Therefore, anti-corrosion treatment is the main task; painting is allowed.
- Plywood (chipboard) - this material must be treated in the same way as wood; antiseptic treatment, priming and painting are carried out.
Requirements for filling coffee bean bags, algorithm for filling granules
In order for a DIY folding chair to retain its appearance for as long as possible and remain reliable, it must be treated with special care. After fishing, the product should be cleaned of adhering dirt and dust, and wipe off moisture. It must be stored in a dry place.
Making a feeding chair with your own hands is quite simple. Although this task requires serious preparation and the availability of tools. When choosing the optimal fishing chair, it is better to choose a combination of a steel frame and a fabric one. It will be durable and resistant to negative external factors.
Treat wooden elements with an antiseptic and paint if desired.
Apply a special anti-corrosion coating to metal parts
After fishing, always clean the chair from adhering dirt and grass.

Materials used
You can assemble a fishing chair with your own hands from various materials. Using available raw materials will significantly reduce the cost of all work.
Wooden chairs are common. Wooden blocks of different sizes are used both to build the frame and to make the seat, backrest and other elements.
Metal pipes are widely used as supports. They can be combined with wooden or fabric seats. The seat is cut from pieces of canvas, leather and other durable fabrics. There are also plastic elements. It is a durable yet lightweight material, ideal for making fishing chairs.
The structures are assembled with your own hands using fasteners. The base is usually assembled using self-tapping screws, bolts, screws, and staples.
Fishing chair yourself: step by step
The simplest design can be made as follows:
- Select the required sizes.
- Draw a drawing.
- Take 2 closed square steel contours.
- Fasten them crosswise with a screw.
- Sew a seat from a wide strip of dense material on top.
- At the bottom, install a limiter in the form of a thin strip of leather.
- Attach an additional one to one arch; it will be needed as a backrest.
Attention! This is the simplest way to make a folding chair. But you need to take into account that the back in this case, when disassembled, will be in one position.
Naturally, any angler has a lot of things to take on a fishing trip. Therefore, suspended equipment is sometimes used. This is quite convenient, since everything you need is always nearby. You don’t have to bend down to the ground to pick up the hooks and bait, as they are on a stand. A fishing rod or hook is also often attached to the body kit in the required position.
For a fishing chair with 3 legs you will need the following pieces:
- a triangle made of thick leather or other thick material;
- 3 bars for legs (about 65 cm);
- 3 washers and 3 nuts;
- mounting bolts.
The preparation of the necessary elements and the manufacture of the seat is carried out in stages:
- step back 30 cm on the bars and make a hole; you also need to make holes on top of the cuts to secure the seat;
- on the leather triangle you need to punch holes in the corners;
- the third leg is secured with a bolt, and its tension is controlled so that the chair folds easily;
- We attach a wide leather strip to the structure so that the assembled tripod can be carried or fixed on a backpack.
Making your own fishing chair is very simple. Having selected a specific model, you can begin creating a drawing. Taking it into account, the required materials are calculated. And then all the parts are assembled into a single structure.
The choice of seat design and materials will depend on various parameters. The main thing is ease of manufacture, ease of use, overall dimensions and total weight of the chair. This combination depends on individual characteristics. If you go fishing by car, then comfort is a priority, while the lightness of the product can be neglected. If you most often have to go fishing on foot, then it is better to choose lightweight models.
Tools
In the process of making and assembling a wooden fishing chair, you will need the following tools:
drill;- screwdriver;
- hacksaw;
- English keys;
- scissors for working with fabric;
- sandpaper.
Materials that will be useful:
- wood;
- bolts and nuts;
- paints and varnishes;
- brushes
Stool on four plastic supports
Self-erecting folding stool-style fishing chairs are very convenient to use. The base in them is made of plastic pipes. A piece of dense and durable fabric is taken for the seat.
The first step is to prepare the blanks. 8 pieces are cut from a plastic tube. The pieces that will serve as support should be approximately 50-60 cm long; 4 such pieces will be needed. You will also need 4 pieces 35-40 cm long, two of which will go to the lower jumpers between the legs. They will allow you to obtain a more reliable and stable structure. And the two organize the venue.
Long parts are connected in pairs. Each pair is secured with a screw in the middle. You should end up with two parts in the shape of a cross. They are connected to each other at the edges by short elements. You should end up with a smooth texture. The ease of bending (opening) is regulated by the tension of the bolts.
The upper short decks are connected with fabric (for example, tarpaulin). You should sit down. A narrower fabric band is stretched between the bottom pair of sweaters. This will be a limiter that will prevent the chair from bending.
Characteristics of the chair
The features of any element of a winter fisherman's equipment are akin to a traveler's equipment - in size it must be designed to be carried in a backpack or suitcase, quickly disassembled and folded, lightweight, and easy to use.
It would not be at all superfluous if its covering at least partially protects the rider from the cold winter wind - not every fisherman pitches a tent over the hole.
The feeder fisherman's chair should:
- be stable on ice;
- sit securely even on uneven surfaces;
- Additionally, have support for the back, since it is this part of the body that becomes numb when sitting for a long time over the hole in a monotonous position.
If the backrest reclines, the upper body support allows the person to assume a comfortable waddle position. A backrest-supported seat will certainly provide the fisherman with the opportunity to get the pleasure for which he leaves the cozy house in winter in any weather. It wouldn’t be out of place to mention your health, which, while fishing without minimal amenities, can cause damage, albeit small.
Simple fishing design made from PVC plastic pipes
This version of the chair can be assembled in a few hours according to the following scheme:
The plastic tube is cut into 8 equal parts: 4 parts of 50 cm and 4 parts of 35 cm.- Two identical parts are cut out of tarpaulin or any other fabric. One of them will be a seat, the other will be a jumper to stabilize the product. The width and length of the handle will directly depend on the size of the stool.
- Subsequently, the two long pipes are connected by two crossed bolts.
- At the top and bottom, long sections are attached to short pipes using plastic corners. As a result, you have a ready-made folding stool design.
- Now we take our piece of fabric and fold it in two layers. Next, we cover the top of our structure with it.
- A thin strip of fabric needs to be folded in two layers and sewn to the lower supports.
Tip: Avid anglers will also want to make a boat chair and table out of PVC. In nature, a folding table or a comfortable table for a laptop can also come in handy.
Manufacturing stages
Taking into account your own skills in making products from different materials, as well as personal wishes, you can build your own chairs for feeder fishing of varying complexity.
Simple model
To make the simplest model of a feeder chair, you will need three interlocking metal pipes with a diameter of 20 mm, material for the seat and back, strong threads, 4 bolts and nuts. Necessary tools: electric drill, hacksaw, grinder. Manufacturing technology:
- The short sides of the seat are stitched with two wide strips and secured at the bottom with a limiter made of a thin strip. In this case, the fabric is sewn directly onto 2 metal pipes, which will serve as the legs of the chair. The material on the back is also stitched along the short sides.
- At the junction of the legs, holes are drilled in the middle of the long sides and connected crosswise to the fasteners.
- A pipe is attached to one of the legs, which will serve as a backrest.
It is worth considering that in this design the backrest does not fold.
With adjustable legs and backrest
A chair with a back is a more complicated version of a feeder chair. Material required to assemble such a chair: steel pipe for the frame with a diameter of 20 mm, fastenings (bolts, nuts), textiles for the seat and back, threads, rubber nozzles for the legs, anti-corrosion compound. The tools used are the same as for the simple model. Assembly algorithm:
- The metal pipe is cut into several parts: for the legs and seat - 8 pieces of 55 cm, for the back - two pieces of 70 cm, one piece - 30 cm.
- On two pipes, which are intended for sitting, two fasteners are installed at a distance of 6 cm from the beginning and end.
- Another fastener is attached to one of these pipes, with which the back will be mounted. The fastener is located at a distance of 9 cm from the beginning of the pipe.
- To complete the manufacture of the chair frame, the prepared corrugated pipes with fasteners are connected by two more pipes. Thus, 4 metal pieces measuring 55 cm were used.
- Pipes measuring 70 cm prepared for the backrest are connected to a pipe 30 cm long using fasteners.
- The remaining four 55 cm pieces, which will serve as legs, are attached to the ends of the frame tubes. They are equipped with rubber nozzles.
- At the last stage of making the chair, textiles are stretched over the seat and back. Holes are made on the short sides of the tarpaulin, and the material is pulled together using an elastic band. The elastic will allow the seat to sag a little under the weight of the angler. The back textile is pulled together along the long sides.
The described design will allow you to adjust the legs in height, which will make the chair more convenient to use.
Made from polypropylene pipes
A simple option for making a feeder chair, for which you will need: PVC pipes with a diameter of 25-32 mm, fittings connecting the parts of the chair, durable textiles for the seat, fasteners, threads. Tools for assembly: pipe cutting scissors or a hacksaw, soldering iron. A guide on how to make a fishing chair from polypropylene pipes with your own hands:
- The tube is cut into pieces: 16 parts for the back, legs, and seat, the length of which you can choose yourself.
- We connect the pipe sections with fittings. For convenience, assembly should begin from the back, then the seat and handles are fastened together.
- For the seat and back, take material that is stitched along the short sides with holes for inserting pipes.
- After checking the structure for stability, it is disassembled, the material is stretched onto the appropriate sections of pipes.
- At the final stage of assembly, the parts are soldered or secured with glue.
The result is a homemade chair with armrests that will be quite stable on any surface. It is worth noting that the back of such a design does not move, its position remains unchanged.
Folding chair
To assemble a folding chair, you will need a polypropylene pipe with a diameter of 25 mm, fittings, material for the seat, threads, 2 bolts, 2 nuts. Guide on how to make a folding chair:
- The fabric is cut to a size of 18 cm. It is stitched along the short sides so as to create holes into which the pipes will be inserted.
- The pipe is cut into pieces: 4 pieces of 40 cm and 4 pieces of 20 cm.
- Long pipes have holes drilled in the middle for bolting.
- Short 20 cm sections of pipe are inserted into the prepared fabric. Corners are put on the ends.
- 2 rectangles are formed from all pipe sections measuring 20 x 40 cm. They must be connected with fabric.
- The rectangles are connected to each other with bolts and nuts in the drilled places. It is not recommended to tighten the nuts too tightly so that the chair folds effortlessly.
For structural strength, glue or welding can be used in the places where the fittings are attached. This folding fishing chair will serve for a long time thanks to the material from which it is made, it will be easy to carry, and the chair will not take up much space in your backpack.
How to make a folding fishing boat out of wood?
Let's see how to make a simple wooden fishing chair with four legs. To do this, we will need several wooden beams with a square section of 35-40 cm, from which the legs of the product will be made. The process of making a chair will look like this:
We make holes in the center in the prepared beams.- Next, bend the bars into an X shape and fasten them with bolts.
- We do the same with the second pair of beams. As a result, we should get two identical letters X, which we will link together.
- The final stage will be upholstering the chair with fabric. Any durable and wear-resistant material (tarpaulin, Bologna fabric, leatherette) is suitable for these purposes.
In order for the chair to last as long as possible, it should be treated with antiseptics and coated with a two-layer water-repellent varnish.
Attention: In order for the folding fishing chair to fold and unfold easily, you need to correctly adjust the tension of the bolts.
Folding chair with metal supports
You can also make folding chairs for fishing with your own hands on metal legs. Their design is similar to the previous version. The only difference is the use of aluminum (or steel) pipes. It is worth noting that this option will have more weight than one made from a plastic tube. But at the same time its reliability will be greater.
The manufacturing process itself is similar. Blanks can be taken of the same size. The only difference is the way the individual elements are connected to each other. Metal will be a little more difficult to work with. Most joints can be welded using tools. Only at the intersection of the legs should there be bolts. Otherwise the chair will not fold.
Materials used to assemble the chair
The main materials for making a fishing chair are wood, plywood and chipboard. The use of metal is limited by the availability of special tools. Firstly, you will need a welding machine, which not everyone can handle. Many people argue that aluminum is not suitable because it is too soft. This statement is wrong. Many people still remember the Soviet folding bed, on which many people relaxed at home or in the country. Its frame is made of aluminum. Despite this, the folding bed served for years. Therefore, anyone who has the opportunity to use an aluminum or duralumin pipe with a diameter of about 2 centimeters can safely use it. At the same time, the result will be a lightweight and mobile structure, which is also resistant to atmospheric conditions. As for other materials, they will have to be protected from moisture.
You will also need durable fabric or artificial leather for upholstery. For moving joints you will have to stock up on bolts, washers and nuts, and possibly other parts. It all depends on personal preferences, as well as the nature of the design.
Drawing
Before making a fishing chair, it is best to draw a drawing of it. This will make it more convenient for you to cut materials and assemble the structure into one whole. What is a project? This is an image of the mobile future in three different projections: front, side and top. On this drawing it is necessary to indicate the number of parts, their exact dimensions and options for connecting individual elements to each other. Optimal dimensions of a fishing chair:
- width from 270 to 500 mm;
- height from 270 to 470 mm.
Almost all fishing chairs will consist of the following elements:
DIY body kit
You can also easily make a homemade body kit for the feeder chair. To do this, you will need plastic plumbing fittings, pipe fasteners, and the aluminum pipes themselves.
There are many design options, and you can choose the one that is most convenient for you. The tubes are connected with fittings (angles or tees) and attached to the legs of the chair. The body kit made in this way is foldable, so you can simply take its parts with you and assemble it on site. The advantage of such homemade products is that they can be made to suit every taste. And you won’t have to spend a lot on purchasing store-bought products.
Wooden chair on four legs
This is another option that will help you assemble a folding fishing chair with your own hands. Drawings prepared in advance will allow you to determine the dimensions of the structure and the required amount of materials.
4 blanks are prepared from wooden blocks, which will serve as supports. The two parts are connected to each other by a screw in the center of the legs. You should end up with two pieces that are somewhat reminiscent of scissors. The parts are connected to each other by wooden boards. They will serve as headquarters. They can be replaced with fabric ones.
The lintels are made from below in the form of wooden beams. The chair will not be allowed to crawl.
Types of chairs for self-production
Conventionally, the options can be divided into:
- hard;
- semi-soft;
- soft;
- rocking chairs.
First, individual elements are created. Then they are processed and holes are made, paint and varnish materials are applied to them. In some cases, a completely finished product is improved. As for certain types of chairs, a feature of hard chairs is the lack of upholstery. Usually these are just chairs with armrests. Semi-soft options are a chair with upholstery and filling inside. Soft upholstery is usually present on the seat, armrests, and backrest. The fabric consumption will be small. The first two models of chairs are more suitable for the garden. A soft type of chairs - completely upholstered in elastic material, an excellent option for the interior of a home. A rocking chair is suitable for the garden, veranda and the house itself. This can be furniture made of various materials or wickerwork. Different types of chairs are made from pallets, boards with beams, bars, and wicker. Sometimes they use metal, and the algorithm of work will not be much different from master classes with wooden models.
Quality and structure of the fishing chair
The quality of a fishing chair depends on many factors, including its design. In the manufacture of such accessories, lightweight materials are used that are not particularly durable. Other materials, although durable, have a significant weight. In addition, special tools are required for production.
As a rule, the design of a fishing chair comes down to the fact that the design changes from a working position to a transport one. This approach reduces the usable area occupied by the product. Due to the presence of moving elements, the reliability of the structure is significantly reduced. Therefore, the design should be simple and have a minimum of moving joints.
Before you start making a fishing chair, you should carefully calculate everything and, most importantly, decide on its structure. It is also necessary to have basic skills in working with various materials and tools.
Industrial options for feeder fishing chairs
Important accessories for feeder fishing should be at hand: a bucket with bags of dry and home-prepared bait, a box with bait. Not all fishermen are willing to lay out their catch right on the ice at their feet.
Some people, having removed the fish from the hook, immediately put it in a small plastic container or bag. To do this, the container must also be placed near the seat itself, so that the necessary manipulations with the catch can be performed without getting up.
A seat with a folding attachment table and a body kit necessary for winter fishing makes any handling of fish, hook and bait convenient, minimizes time and effort for all auxiliary procedures, making it possible to concentrate only on the main thing - fishing. Even if something suddenly appears in the fisherman’s field of vision, he will not ignore it, while continuing to fish.
A more reliable option for storing individual accessories is in special pockets made in the seat upholstery. This is guaranteed to prevent a sudden gust of wind from blowing away the bait or bait.
In addition, putting all the necessary accessories into the seat pockets and removing all the necessary accessories from there is much more convenient than constantly bending low when everything is laid out on the ice. You can choose any other design of niches and pockets for accessories in the chair, taking into account your individual priorities.
Wooden four-legged stool with backrest
As in the previous version, you can make your own folding fishing chair with a backrest. This will require some modification to the design. And for this you will need the following materials:
- Wooden supports (2 pcs.) Length 91 cm.
- Wooden supports (2 pcs.) 55 cm long.
- Wooden seat supports 31.5 cm long.
- Six tables of different seat sizes (40x7, 39x4, 36.5x4, 36.5x4, 31x4, 30x4).
- Wooden back (40x0.7 cm).
- Crossbars for connecting planks (1 pc. size 39x5 cm and 2 pcs. size 32x3 cm).
Work begins with preparing the supports. Holes for bolts are made on the outside. Grooves 1.1 cm long and deep are made along the path inside. The supports are connected by crossbars. We coat the joints with glue.
To make it more comfortable to sit on a chair, a bevel is made on the bundle of long supports. The sides of the seat are connected to the beams with dowels and screws.
Drawing a drawing
Everyone went to school and remember the descriptive geometry lessons very well. Therefore, there should not be any problems in applying such a simple design. If something doesn't work, you can't draw an actual drawing, but are limited to regular hand drawings of the parts, indicating their actual dimensions.
A drawing or drawing involves drawing a product from three sides: front, side and top. Side and top views are called projections. The main image is considered to be the front view, the side view is considered to be the right side of the main image, and the top view is the bottom of that image. In this case, the side view and top view should not extend beyond the size of the front view. This can be considered a perfectly executed drawing.
It should be noted that the time of graph paper and whatman paper has passed. Currently, they are being replaced by computers on which special programs are installed to automate the design process, including the stage of creating working drawings. Unfortunately, learning how to create projects on a computer requires experience. Therefore, there is no need to worry about such a simple design, since you can get by with regular freehand drawing.
Calculations
In order not to get confused in the drawings, it is necessary to indicate the actual dimensions of all parts.
After all the dimensions have been determined and all the materials have been prepared, you can move on to the main stage - this is the implementation of the idea in practice. To do this, you need to go to the workshop, which can serve as a balcony, shed or garage, where all the tools and materials are stored.
Fishing chair on three legs
There are chairs of this type. Unfortunately, they are used very rarely, since this design is not very stable.
Armchair with backrest
Making such a chair may take much longer and require more effort.
Production technology:
First, the back with legs is assembled, then the second pair of legs along with the seat. Before installation, you must check that all dimensions match, after which you can begin drilling holes for connections. The legs are connected in the same way as in the first case, with the letter “X” using bolts for connection. The holes for the bolts should be drilled a little larger in diameter so that they fit freely. The seat is connected to the front one. The seat is not rigidly attached to the back, but on hinges to create a folding structure. If desired, the armrests can be attached to the seat. Please note that the folding design and armrests may get in the way.
Fishing box chair
As mentioned above, a chair with a drawer consists of a pedestal with an opening top that acts as a seat. This design is made of lightweight materials such as plywood or aluminum. The upper part of the cabinet is covered with artificial leather and foam rubber. First, foam rubber is laid, then it is covered with an artificial lining. This not only makes the chair soft, but also warms the seat. This is especially true in winter.
Preparing parts and assembling the frame
You need to work especially carefully on the rear legs, to obtain a curved shape you need to use a ready-made pattern and a jigsaw. The vertical part of the backrest and the rear seat support are attached to the rear legs.
The front legs have a square cross-section and can be made from glued rectangular blocks. Their ends should also be narrowed using an electric jigsaw. Fastenings are made with self-tapping screws, for which it is necessary to pre-drill holes with a diameter less than one third.
Before installation, wood glue is applied to the surface of the joints. The seat bars are secured in the corners with additional parts, with edges cut at 45 degrees. For seating, you can use plywood or furniture fabric strips.
At the last stage of assembly, the armrests and shaped backrest ears are attached. The dimensions of the parts can be taken from ready-made drawings, or a pattern can be taken from old disassembled chairs.
three legged stool
There are chair options that only have 3 legs for support. There are also designs for similar models. A folding chair for fishing with your own hands, assembled and also at minimal cost, will appeal to many. And it's easy to do. You will need the following materials:
- 3 legs about 60 cm long (consisting of round wooden blocks).
- A piece of fabric in the shape of a triangle (for example, thick leather).
- Mounting bolt with ring.
- The mounting bolt is long.
- Washers (3 pcs. fastening and 3 pcs. finishing).
- Nuts (2 pcs.).
A hole is drilled in the center of the cut bars. The same holes are made on the upper sections of the beams. You will need these to attach the fabric to the seat. Holes are drilled in the corners of the fabric for them.
The two legs are connected by a long bolt. A bolt with a ring must be placed on the bolt between the legs. With its help the third leg will be fixed.
The fabric is screwed to the upper section of the legs using decorative washers. After this, a strip of fabric is attached, which will make it convenient to carry the chair.
This version of the chair is very light and compact. Unfolds (assembles) without any effort. And the strap makes it easy to carry. Materials for its manufacture are available. The only drawback is convenience. Three legs do not provide the desired stability. And the small seat does not allow you to completely relax. And the duration is questionable. The fabric begins to tear quite quickly in the corners.
DIY feeder chair. Part 2
Even when the chair is ready, it is comfortable and the fisherman has sat in it enough at home, it is too early to take it fishing. For greater convenience, you need a specific kit for winter fishing.
These are additional accessories to the seat in the form of pockets for bait and bait, stands for the rod, a folding table for a thermos with tea and manipulations with the feeder and hooks. Only when everything is complete will the chair begin to “work off” the costs of its construction.
DIY body kit
Prices for feeder chair body kit elements on sale are steep. Buying the entire body kit as a set will be no cheaper than the chair itself.
Types of body kit include:
- rod stands;
- folding table with drawers for baits and groundbaits;
- special hanging bucket for bait mixture;
- pocket for thermos.
All these elements are not so complex that a person who made a chair with his own hands would buy them in a store. With such equipment, the fishing process is simplified.
Become a mechanic
Seeing the cost of branded body kit elements, the fisherman will only strengthen his desire to continue his plumbing activities. To make your own fishing seat kit, you will need the following materials:

The materials listed in the list do not cost a lot of money, especially since in many homes where furniture or plumbing is often repaired, they may be in abundance. From here, spare parts for the chair are then generated in case of breakdown.
We manufacture the body kit in the following order:
- We drill out the inner diameter of the tees to the diagonal size of the corrugated pipes of the chair legs.
- In the body of each tee, using a soldering iron, we fix a nut into which the M8 fastening bolt will be screwed.
- We drill holes in the legs. into which the mounting bolts will fit freely.
- We install tees and fasten them to the pipes with bolts.
- For each type of armchair body kit we make our own frame, which will allow you to install it on the side of the legs.
- We attach the bait box to the legs with clips that securely compress the corrugated pipe.
