Options for sandblasting patterns for sliding wardrobe mirrors, photo examples

It is difficult to imagine a modern home without a storage system. Wardrobes are a thing of the past, and functional wardrobes have appeared that fit well into the interior of any apartment. The design allows you to hide hangers with clothes, drawers from prying eyes, and place a large number of things inside. The doors of such furniture are easy to open, convenient to use, and if their surface is mirrored or glass, they visually expand the space. At the same time, most people prefer not a monochrome canvas, but models with patterns on the glass. Modern wardrobes with a sandblasted pattern are amazingly beautiful. You can choose an ornament or picture from the catalog provided by the manufacturer, or use your imagination and get a unique image based on your own sketches.

What is

The placement of such decor on wardrobe doors makes them unique and exclusive. Drawings for each case are selected individually, in addition, you can use ready-made catalogs. Modern processing devices allow you to apply decor in the form of trees, animals, landscapes and people to the surface of the mirror.

The essence of the technique is to use a special apparatus to apply an image, which is included in the program, to the surface of the mirror. The treated surface is characterized by durability and strength. Drawings significantly change the appearance of the room, adding originality and plot to it. It is worth highlighting the main advantages of this work:

  • large selection of aesthetic images;
  • resistance to abrasion and ultraviolet radiation;
  • the presence of a sandblasting pattern on the mirror of the wardrobe, a photo of which can be seen in this material, gives the product dirt-repellent properties;
  • the treated surfaces are environmentally friendly for human health, so patterns can be used in children's rooms;
  • doors with a pattern are moisture resistant - they can be placed in rooms with increased moisture;
  • Due to the availability of work, any user can order sandblasting drawings.

Among the disadvantages, it is worth noting the small color palette, which is often based on several contrasting shades. But this disadvantage is the whole highlight of this treatment.

When ordering work with the mirror surface of cabinets purchased in advance, make sure that the mirror fits neatly into place. For this purpose, special fasteners and glazing beads are used.

Technology of applying sandblasting patterns to glass

In order to transfer the image onto hard glass, special equipment is used.

The pattern appears due to a fine abrasive, the pressure of which is directed onto the canvas under strong pressure. The machine, like a printer, calculates the lines and fields for processing. The abrasive consists of aluminum oxide of various fractions, so in the treated areas the glass becomes dull.

The design can be applied not only to transparent glass, but also to tinted glass.

Varieties

Today, sandblasting mirrors involves the use of several types of artistic work. The very essence of the process is that a jet of abrasive particles under high pressure is applied to the surface of the material. She draws an image according to a given stencil. This is how mirrors are matted and subsequently pictures are formed. Let's highlight the popular types of work:

  • mirror with matte pattern. In this case, the background of the image is not painted over, that is, the owners can easily see their reflection. The design itself, made on the stencil, is covered with abrasive substances;
  • matte mirror with a transparent pattern. Craftsmen sandblast most of the surface of the mirror. The drawing remains transparent: only small parts of the reflection are visible;
  • bronze mirror with sandblasting. Bronze paint is used for matting. This option is perfect for classic interiors, where the decoration is done in brown and beige tones;
  • matting the entire surface to varying degrees. The finished stencil is painted over with a jet under different pressures. Some areas of the drawing are painted more than others. In this way, you can highlight individual details of the picture;
  • deep sandblasted patterns. To do this, first the entire surface of the mirror is matted, after which a stencil is pasted and with its help three-dimensional images are applied, creating a 3D effect.

Mirror bases are treated with both colored and luminous substances. The latter option accumulates natural light during the day, and at night, when the lights are turned off, it begins to glow. This treatment will fit well into a child’s room, who will be delighted by the funny glowing pictures.

Application rules

The main algorithm of actions when processing sliding wardrobes with a sandblasted pattern on the mirror consists of the following successive steps:

  • image selection and preparation;
  • stencil production;
  • preparing a mirror base;
  • securing the stencil to the surface;
  • sandblasting;
  • application of a special protective varnish to facilitate product care methods.

Using a stencil
In order to make a stencil, special self-adhesive paper is used. The necessary drawings are printed on it, which are subsequently cut out using tools. The paper is first glued to the surface of the mirror.

After this, the surface that will be inserted into the wardrobe is located on a stable table. The master takes the device in his hands and processes every detail of the drawing to achieve the desired result. The longer the unit acts on the mirror, the more intense the color will be.

A bronze drawing uses a special paint that is added to the device for working with images. The final result comes out after the film with the stencil is removed. The mirror plane is coated with hydrophobic varnish for protection.

A sliding wardrobe with sandblasting requires special care. You should not touch the mirror with oily hands; in addition, cleaning is allowed only with non-abrasive detergents. A soap solution works well for this.

Combination of materials

Doors with a sandblasted pattern are made of glass or mirror sheets. These materials go well with various cabinet base options. The choice depends on the client’s wishes and the cost of the finished product:

  1. Solid wood. Furniture made from this material looks and is expensive. It will become a real decoration of the house, will fit perfectly into classical styles, as well as Provence, country, and Scandinavian interiors. Such models can be made in different colors, from light to very dark, even black. They are of high quality, durable, and do not contain harmful impurities.
  2. A veneered wardrobe is made from MDF or chipboard panels, on top of which a thin layer of natural wood is glued. Such products are much cheaper than wooden ones, but just as beautiful and elegant. They go well with mirrors and glass. They will look natural in a room decorated in the Art Nouveau direction.
  3. MDF. Furnishings made from this material are the most sought after and popular. Durable, beautiful slabs can be painted in the most unexpected colors. They are distinguished by decent quality and reasonable cost. They can be combined with almost any style, except ultra-modern ones.
  4. Chipboard is the most budget option with a not very durable coating, which easily shows scuffs and scratches. In this case, a sample with a sandblasting pattern is the optimal choice, since it is the doors that bear the main operational load.

Glass is a fragile material and should not be cleaned with abrasives, aggressive liquids or washing powder.
