Cutting laminated chipboard: step-by-step instructions, review of cutting programs

Rules for cutting chipboard

Cutting chipboard can be done either manually or using a special computer program.

First, let's look at the most important general rules:

  1. Determine what the remainder will be. If you do not need this remainder at all (for example, for the manufacture of additional, previously unforeseen interior items), strive to ensure that it is as small as possible.
  2. The wood pattern on the laminated layer of particle material (structure) on the surfaces of the future piece of furniture located in the same plane must have the same direction - along or across.
  3. Determine the visible elements of the piece of furniture on which the structure will be located in the same direction. Number future details. Usually the first numbers are assigned to parts on which the pattern follows the structure (that is, along).
  4. Make a base for a sheet of plywood. Usually there are some unevenness and chips along its edges. Therefore, when cutting, 10-15 mm are cut off on each side and, when cutting, you need to indicate the actual size of the sheet after this operation.
  5. Consider the width of the cut. The saw on the sawing machine has a thickness of 4 mm. Therefore, when cutting, you need to take this width into account.

Cutting programs

Online cutting of chipboard sheets can be done using special computer programs. Here are descriptions of the most popular of them.

Master 2

This program provides users with several additional benefits that are necessary for those for whom working with chipboard is a business:

  • multiplayer mode;
  • sorting and systematization of information;
  • saving data about materials and contractors;
  • accounting for the remaining amount of materials;
  • grouping of orders: active, planned, archived.

Scale models of sheets with calculated dimensions are placed on the editor field. During the cutting process, the editor indicates a correctly laid part, an incorrectly laid part, a minor remainder, and a significant remainder. The program by default tries to make leftovers as large as possible. But if the user wishes otherwise, the service can adapt to it.

Cutting 3

The program window is divided into two parts. On the left side there is a warehouse: sheets that need to be cut. On the right side you need to enter the parameters by which parts are created from slabs. Color, size, quantity are indicated.

In the “Rotation” field, you can set three modes. The first is to rotate, with the part positioned at the discretion of the program. The second is to rotate together: all identical parts rotate together on one sheet. The third one is not to rotate. After clicking the “Perform calculation” button, a cutting map appears on the screen. When you press the same button again, the program will offer other options. All resulting options can be adjusted manually, in particular, by dragging and rotating parts.

Astra Cutting

The program's working file represents an order, which may contain several products. And each consists of a set of parts, the parameters of which are selected by the user. The program generates cutting cards automatically, taking into account the width of the cut, trimming the edge of the sheet, through cuts, type of cutting and other factors. Following the map, a complete set of technological documentation is generated: a sketch and specification. Astra Cutting also contains a directory of materials, edges, parts and operations.

Cutting laminated chipboard

produced on automated CNC formatting and cutting machines. Thanks to modern equipment, cutting of any level of complexity is carried out without chips or cracks. Mebetal, upon customer request, produces furniture parts from laminated chipboard, MDF and HDF, which are included in the warehouse and custom program of board materials. In addition, Mebetal accepts the customer’s material for cutting.

The cutting of laminated chipboards and countertops is carried out on automated format-cutting centers HOLZMA (HOMAG group, Austria) with CNC, which ensures high dimensional accuracy of furniture parts with a minimum deviation of 0.1 mm. The presence of two centers in the Mebetal production park makes it possible to cut large volumes.

The production of parts of complex and curved shapes is carried out on a MASTERWOOD processing machine by milling. This equipment provides high precision in the manufacture of curved parts.

1. Dimensions of straight parts without edge processing

  • The minimum part size for cutting is 100×50mm.
  • The maximum part size is the plate format reduced by 15 mm. along the entire perimeter of the sheet after technological trimming cuts. If it is necessary to produce a part of a larger size, written consent is taken from the client (indicated in the order form) regarding the possibility of chipping due to a decrease in the size of technological cuts.

2.
Parts with an end cut at an angle

  • With end bevels on parts made of chipboard, the deviation from the right angle occurs by no more than 45 degrees.

  • The minimum part size is 100mm (the width of the workpiece must be increased by 100mm).
  • Due to the possibility of performing end bevels with angles of 11.5; 15; 22.5; 30; 45° on a CNC machining center, the error in performing this operation is ±0.5°. The error in making angles different from those indicated above is ±1°.

In case of placing an order with this processing of parts, written consent is taken from the client (indicated in the order form) regarding the possibility of chipping along an acute angle.

3. Milling. Curvilinear processing.

Today, milling furniture parts has become a popular operation, without which furniture production is indispensable. The most optimal method for curvilinear cutting of slab material is milling on CNC machines. In Mebetal, such work is carried out at the MASTERWOOD processing center.

  2. Fill out the Furniture Parts Order Form, which is located in the “Forms” section and click “Submit”. All sent Forms are stored in the “Order Log”.
  3. IMPORTANT! After sending the Order Form, you must write a letter to the address indicating the order number and attach drawings to the parts. Drawings are required only for parts with various processing: additives, milling, bevels, etc.
  4. The manager will make an exact calculation in accordance with the drawings and send you an invoice for payment. The order processing time is from 1 to 3 business days, depending on the order and its features.
  5. If changes are made to the originally sent form for various reasons (replacement of decor, work, etc.), the manager, along with an invoice for payment, will send you an order specification for furniture parts, which must be checked and confirmed by reply letter, writing the phrase “ That's right. I confirm." Invoices are sent ONLY for confirmed specification orders.
  6. If you would like to include delivery in your invoice, please write your exact delivery address in the comments to your order.

Step-by-step instructions for filling out the order form for furniture parts

  1. In the “Customer” column, you must indicate the full name of the legal entity or full name. customer.
  2. In the “Phone” column, you must indicate the customer’s contact phone number with the correct city/mobile operator code.
  3. In the “Chipboard” column, you select from the list the decor of the board material you are interested in and its thickness.
  4. In the fields “Thick edge 1-2 mm (V2)” and “Thin edge 0.4-0.6 mm (V0.4)” the edge material is selected automatically, in the color of the previously selected slab material. If you need a different color of the edge material, you can select the manufacturer and color manually from the drop-down list in the yellow field, with the word “auto-selection” entered.
  5. We proceed to filling out the parameters of the necessary furniture parts. IMPORTANT:
    • in all fields except the “Part processing (Sketch)” field, only digital indicators are entered; • indicate all dimensions of furniture parts without taking into account the edge material; • when ordering additives, parts of the same size that do not require different additives are filled in in separate lines and with different serial numbers, including left and right parts.
  6. If the order for the production of furniture parts requires standard grooves, then in the “4 mm grooves” field you must select from the list the size of the indentation from the edge of the part.
  7. In the first column “Part processing (Sketch)” you must select “P” or “FP” from the list. “P” - additive (without milling). Holes with a diameter of 5, 8, 10, 15, 20, 35 mm are fitted; “FP” - milling-additive (cut, cut, radii, complex bevels, non-standard grooves). Holes with a diameter of more than 35 mm are milled.
  8. In the columns “Part length” and “Part width” you must indicate the dimensions of the length and width of the part in mm.
  9. In the “Number of parts” column, you must indicate the number of parts in pieces.
  10. The “Bevels” column indicates the number of bevels that must be made on each of the parts indicated in the stock. If bevels are not needed, nothing needs to be specified.
  11. Edging parts. The section “Number of sides of the part, edged and/or having a 4 mm groove” is divided into 2 columns “along the length” and “width”, which, in turn, are divided into 2 thicknesses of the edge material: - “V2”; - “V0.4”. Thus, on simple parts (without complex radial contours) whose sides need to be edged, in the corresponding columns “V2” and/or “V0.4” you must indicate the number 1 or 2, depending on the number of sides to be edged. If edging is not necessary, you do not need to indicate anything.
  12. If the part has a complex radial contour that requires edging, you must indicate the number 1 or 2, depending on the number of sides to be edged along the length and width in the columns “Including the number of sides of a part with a complex contour that require edging.”
  13. Columns "Groove" in length and width. There are 2 typical through grooves (from the beginning to the end of the part) 4 mm wide, 8 mm deep: - The first is 12 mm from the edge of the part, including the edge material - The second is 16 mm from the edge of the part, including the edge. Such grooves must be marked with numbers 1,2,3,4... according to the number of grooves in the “Groove” column on the side (length and/or width) where it runs.
  14. If the groove does not fall within the standard parameters, then you need to select “FP” from the list for the corresponding serial number of the part in the “Part Processing (Sketch)” column.
  15. Let's look at the order cost calculation. Below the table of parameters of furniture parts there is a complete specification of your order and the total cost of the order, which is calculated automatically.
  16. We add comments. In the “Your comments” field, you can enter all your wishes and clarifications in order to speed up order processing and avoid misunderstandings.

Manual cutting

The algorithm for working with laminated chipboard is as follows:

  1. Draw the dimensions of the slab on paper. Reduce each side of the slab by 10 mm.
  2. Determine the characteristics by which future elements for furniture production can be grouped. These may be the same dimensions, if there are many such elements, or only the same width (height), the same structure of the laminated surface pattern and other characteristics. In the list of elements, group them according to the same characteristics.
  3. When drawing, place large elements first (on top). Leave a gap of 4 mm between the elements - this is the width of the saw.
  4. Next, arrange the remaining elements, also leaving a gap of 4 mm.

A question of cost

The cost of formatting a furniture panel is only 100 rubles per linear meter. This is a fairly affordable price not only for the capital, but also for the regions. And for high-class operational work, it is truly profitable! To order a cutting service or get more detailed information about it:

How to cut laminated chipboard

To cut laminated chipboard, you must follow the following instructions:

  1. Select the type of cut. Straight cutting is designed to produce rectangular shapes. Curvilinear - for some elements of designer furniture. Sometimes a mixed type of cut is needed if a complex part is required.
  2. Prepare the necessary tools. This is a fine-tooth saw or jigsaw. A circular saw can also be used for fine teeth. To protect the laminate flooring from damage, you will need masking tape or tape. To mark the blanks - a ruler and a pencil.
  3. Mark the sheet to be cut. Mark the points of intended cutting with a pencil from the ends of the sheet.
  4. To prevent chipping, apply masking tape or tape to the future cut site.
  5. After gluing the tape or tape, connect the preliminary marking points together with a pencil.
  6. When cutting, hold the hacksaw at an acute angle to the surface of the sheet. This will ensure smooth edges.
  7. If the edges are not quite smooth, process them with a file or rasp.
