As a basis for creating a car seat with your own hands, you can take a factory seat. The frame can be left unchanged, or some elements necessary to change the shape can be added. The soft part of the seat can be changed by cutting off the foam or gluing additional segments. For example, you can convert a standard car seat into a sports bucket seat.

First you need to draw a rough sketch of the desired shape of the seat on paper, taking into account the size and shape of the original seat. You need to disassemble the original seat and think about how you can change the frame so that the shape matches your drawing. When creating a seat, you need to consider ergonomics, comfort and safety.

In our example, the lower part of the frame has been modified. Two plates were added with hinges and torsion springs (to allow the plates to move slightly up and down). This was planned by the ergonomic design of the seat. This mechanism relieves pressure and tension on the hips and legs while pressing the pedals of the car. In addition, the side part of the lower frame was increased, in areas of future increased lateral support.

Not only the design of the foam is important, but also how it will be attached to the frame. Everything needs to be planned in advance and the places where the foam cuts and fastenings should be marked. It is necessary to take into account the location of the metal rods that will hold the rings for attaching some areas of the upholstery. The rods can be built into the soft part of the seat (in special grooves). Instead of grooves with rods, Velcro fasteners (textile fasteners/Velcro) can be used to attach rings. One part of the fastening is on the polyurethane foam, and the other on the upholstery. Such fastenings are often used on modern seats.

Looking inside, you can be horrified: there are pipes and rods with iron corners. In the event of a serious accident, this structure bends unpredictably, and all this equipment comes out, injuring the driver and passengers. If the driver's weight is more than one hundred kilograms, as a rule, the seat cannot withstand the load and bursts at the base even without an accident.

If you put the chair on the stroller, it will not hold if the stroller is in the position where the child should be sitting. Therefore, you will have to put the stroller in a state where the child is supposed to lie down. In this position the chair can be attached to the frame very simply. To do this, you will need to find corner holders and screws with the help of which it is worth fastening the chair to the stroller through the durable plastic elements of the stroller.

The result will be a fairly strong structure that will be held on by corner holders and screws.

Polyurethane foam (polyurethane foam)

Polyurethane foam has been used in car seats for over 30 years. There are different technologies for making this material. Regardless of the technology by which the foam is made, its characteristics of hardness and density are of greater importance. The durability of the seat and its comfort depend on these characteristics.

Simply put, polyurethane foam is produced by the reaction of polyols and diisocyanates. Both products are derived from crude oil. A series of additives are also necessary to produce high quality polyurethane foam. Different additives are needed depending on the area of ​​application of the foam.

Polyurethane foam is most often used as the upholstery of car seats due to the design freedom that this material allows. Also because it provides the required comfort to the seats. Polyurethane foam is also widely used in the furniture industry.

Polyurethane is used in cars because it:

• Has light weight
• Helps reduce cabin noise. Excellent noise and vibration absorption.
• Wear-resistant. Polyurethane is not prone to corrosion and retains its properties even under difficult operating conditions.
• Polyurethane can be molded into any shape, so it is well suited for the manufacture of ergonomic, comfortable car seats.
• Polyurethane can be recycled (reused).

The design of the upholstered part of the seat has changed radically with the development of molding technology. In recent years, the density of polyurethane used in major products has been reduced by 30 to 40 percent, but the mechanical properties remain the same.

DIY home chair

Now let's look at making a regular home chair with our own hands. Unfortunately, there were quite a few photographs; there was no time to take photographs. The main stages were recorded in a timely manner, switching from a tedious workflow.

I wanted to get an ordinary chair, and not just some incomprehensible rookery. So that it is strong and stable, like store-bought options. I had to look on the Internet for views and drawings of chairs in order to correctly assemble my design. I suggest you immediately look at the photographs of the chair assembly process itself.

At the first stage, a base-frame for the future chair in the form of a semicircle is made. Chipboard with timber is used. The base of the chair was 10 centimeters thick. This will be just enough to secure the walls. And the uprights have the same ultimate function.

Hardboard was perfect for the back, and plywood for the front wall. I drew out all the curves and outlines of the future chair by eye from the remaining wallpaper. Children's wooden cubes were used for the base.

The next step was to glue cardboard to fill the interior space. During the work, we even had to change the glue; the initially chosen PVA did not work. The walls swelled and became like a wafer, the glue was replaced with ordinary wood glue. It turned out to be the best choice of all that was offered. There was even an idea for a rocking chair with my own hands, but I will implement the idea a little later.

At the next stage, work with instant adhesive and foam rubber, seal the entire surface with a layer of foam rubber, leaving no bald spots or uncovered areas. A cover must be sewn onto a monotonous surface.

Well, we have reached the final stage, when we pull on the cover and get a beautiful finished chair. The product turned out to be quite heavy, but it will be completely safe for children, which can be considered a plus. As for the fabric used, nothing was bought anywhere. We used scraps and sewing scraps available at home.

We wanted temporary furniture; no one planned to make a chair that would last forever. The fabric on the armrests, despite being well tacked with glue, will peel off over time. If we say a little about the design of the chair, it turned out to be simply indestructible.

Drawings and diagrams

Having decided on the material from which your furniture will be made, you need to think in advance where it will be located and what kind of items you want to make. After all, despite the fact that these are not apartments, you should still determine the optimal size and style for you.

Shop

The simplest and most traditional material here is wood. There are several simple schemes for country shops. You can make seats for them from either boards or solid wood. Based on the diagrams given, you can easily build a comfortable and practical bench or bench of the required size. After completing the assembly, do not forget to treat the wood with a preservative.

As for colors and design, it all depends on your imagination. You can leave clear, laconic lines or cut out graceful curves. The natural pattern of wood is an unchanging classic, so you can only cover it with varnish. But if your idea requires it, then you can easily give it any color.

Table

The simplest version of a table is considered to be a product with four supports (legs) and a solid tabletop. By the way, it can be made from either boards or solid wood. A solid cut of a large tree looks very unusual, and the log itself can be sawn both along and across the trunk.

Often you can see solid tree stumps as a small table. The more impressive its size, the more intricate the pattern the “tabletop” itself will have. The choice of place where the table will be installed is also important. Make sure the surface is level. Otherwise, the tabletop will tilt or the table will wobble.

Chaise lounge

It cannot be said that a chaise lounge is the most necessary piece of furniture in the country. But remember your vacation somewhere on the seashore and that pleasant feeling when you, relaxed, lay down on it and basked in the rays of the sun. Creating such an atmosphere at your dacha is a dream that can easily be made into reality.

The most comfortable option would be a chaise lounge with an adjustable backrest. With this design, you can choose the perfect angle to read a book or just watch the children frolic nearby.

To make it you will need boards, beams and slats. Once you have assembled the frame, you can begin laying the slats. Don't forget to leave small gaps between them. The height of the sun lounger can be any - it all depends on your preferences. If in doubt, it is better to stick to the standard size of 35 cm.

Garden sofa

The main difference between a garden sofa will be that it will not be upholstered with soft foam rubber and fabric. If you are used to gathering at your dacha with a large group, then such a stationary object in the recreation area will be indispensable. It can be either simple or angular, or even U-shaped.

Models made from a large diameter tree trunk look quite brutal. In this case, you will only need to place the log in the right place and cut out 1/4 of it so that you get a seat. You can complement such a masterpiece with armrests of dimensions that emphasize the massiveness and reliability of the structure. But it is not recommended to repaint such a sofa in bright colors to cover the wood texture, since it is in its natural form that it will look most impressive.

In addition to the chopped model of a garden sofa, you can also make it from ordinary beams and boards. Recently, making furniture from pallets has become a real trend. In fact, you already have “semi-finished products” that you just need to combine and give them an aesthetic appearance by painting.

Rocking chair

It is quite possible to assemble a rocking chair yourself. But if you have never held a plane or jigsaw in your hands, then we advise you to start with simpler furniture models: here you will need an accurate calculation of every detail
